People swear they “watched the game,” but what they really watched was the internet’s opinion of the game. We kick things off by unpacking the World Cup final and the chaos that follows any major soccer match: accusations of favoritism, arguments about yellow cards and dirty play, and the endless Messi vs Ronaldo debate. We’re not pretending to be global soccer analysts, but we are honest about what we see and how fast fan narratives can replace the actual match.

From there, it turns into the kind of hang our listeners know well, with big topic swings that still somehow connect. We try calling our friend David while he’s in China, shout out a neighborhood reunion that reminds us where we come from, and trade stories from a Laughlin trip that includes lake coves, floaties, portable compressors, and a side quest into Hoover Dam vs Davis Dam geography. We also talk local news, including the Boyle Heights cold storage fire and why solar panel systems and lithium batteries can make fires harder to fully put out.

Then we go deep on modern cars and why so many mechanics are fed up: flat-rate pay, unpaid diagnostic time, warranty work that barely covers labor, and how new vehicle design plus long oil change intervals can feel like a recipe for expensive problems. If you’ve ever wondered whether 10,000-mile oil changes make sense for turbo engines, or why tool-truck debt is a real trap for new techs, you’ll get plenty to think about. We close on food talk, ice cream nostalgia, and a live reaction to the I Play Rocky trailer that has us ready for November.

Back And World Cup Reactions

Mig

Welcome back to the Drifting On Arroyo Podcast. This is Mig. This is Lano. RK67. Dude. Been a while. Talking about we here last week.

Lano

Where have all you been? I think last show we were like, welcome to the World Cup. And then now it's over. Goodbye, World Cup.

Mig

Oh, sorry. Spoiler alert. Yeah. Spoiler alert. Did you guys um watch the game? I was driving back from uh Laughlin. I went to Laughlin this weekend.

Lano

Oh no, that's nice. It was it was kind of like a boring game. And that the halftime show was.

Mig

I saw the highlights. It looked like it looked like it was good. What are you talking about? Um, I mean it was on defense. I saw no well, I guess it was a highlight. I saw Spain kept attacking and missing. We we need someone who really knows soccer, like the global soccer, knows all the players to know what's going on because just like watching videos on YouTube, dude, it's like I hear so much shit. Like people, you know, it's like from some people I hear that that Spain is hated and that France is hated, that the final four that it was is the nobody wanted to see that, you know, and that Argentina's a bunch of cheaters, and this and that, or whatever, and the Messi's a baby, and and all kinds of crap, dude. It's like I since I don't know You saw it, you saw it blatantly with Argentina this year. I mean, since I don't know what's what with soccer, dude, I I don't know, like I opened it. Did you watch any Argentinian games? No. They were it was it at first at first, even when the tournament started, I saw the bracket that they were in. Such an easy damn bracket, and they had an easy roll to the damn World Cup. Okay, just with that alone, is like it was it was bullshit, and everything was favored to damn Arduino Argentina, yeah. Yeah, because that that's uh that's what I'm getting is that Messi is like a golden boy the way um Brady was to the NFL. Yeah, where you know he could do whatever the hell he wanted, he could cry as much as he wanted, and he got calls going his way. Just just forget these people that were talking about how how much um dirty Argentina was playing, and they weren't even getting yellow carded. Yeah, that's what I hear too. Yeah, yeah, so um that even like red carded, like some of them should have gotten red carded and they couldn't.

Lano

Argentina, how many? Um they they have I don't know how many they have, three or four World Cups? They won. Uh I know they're like up there with with the winners. I mean they're up there with the teams, but um, I thought they're gonna be more skillful, but they're thinking.

Mig

I guess they're I guess they're doing everything that they could uh make them back to back. You know, because only like two I think two or three countries have done that ever in the history of the World Cup gone back to back. I think so. Brazil's gotta be one.

Lano

I think Brazil did it in in '94 when they won at the Rolls Bowl. I think it was their second time in a row. Yeah, but I mean And then I've seen videos of Messi where like they say he cheats because like he's always moving the ball, like on those free kicks, like he moves it up like five feet or moves it to the side right like the referee tells him like right here, and then as soon as the referee turns his back, like he's moving it like 10 feet over here, five feet over there.

Mig

I mean, what what I did see on a lot of those videos though, is that yeah, you know, it's like you say, dude, Messi, he's he's a poor sport, dude. He's he's like uh he's a he's a he's a yeah, I would I I didn't I didn't think I didn't think Ronaldo was to that to that extent. I just thought Ronaldo was like full of himself, you know. Well, I've seen I've seen videos where they compared the two and how they act. Yeah, even just walking into a stadium, like walking into a stadium, you know, like they kind of like throw jerseys and stuff at them walking in, and Messi just like walks all over and steps on it and whatever. Yeah, and like when Ronaldo came out, it's like someone had thrown a scarf in front of him, and I'm guessing it was probably like the opponent's scarf or something, and he picked it up and draped it over like a camera or something. Like he didn't leave it on the floor to get all stepped on and everything.

Lano

It's also then he signs autographs and then Messi does in the case.

Mig

He signs autographs and that that asshole Messi shines off kids. Yeah. And and Ronaldo, you know, every he sees everybody, even dudes that are running on the field. No, but even yeah, but but that also, even like after the games, you know, he Ronaldo's out there like shaking hands and looking, yeah, you know, like just good sports shit, you know? Yeah and Messi, like if he lost, you know, he's a big baby. And yeah, I was totally wrong with about Ronaldo. I I didn't I didn't think he was to that extent on Messi like that for himself. I just thought he, you know.

Lano

Yeah, because they make Ronaldo be like an individual player, like right, like a young Kobe. I think that's what it was, yeah.

Mig

Like a young Kobe, like a hot dogger, but like I I always thought he was like a hot dogger. That's that's what I you know. See, that's the thing. I'm I'm clueless. Uh I was clueless and I'm just finding all this stuff out now. Yeah, you know, so I'm like through the whole tournament.

Lano

I was like walking out of the tunnel. I did notice that the Spaniards were like a lot bigger than the Argentinians, like they were like a lot taller. It was like bigger people. Messi, he looked small. The whole team looks small, everybody's like, you know, they're towering over him.

Mig

Dude, talking about tall, what about that dude from Norway?

Lano

Yeah, um, that Holland Terminator?

Mig

I don't know. It looks like a Viking. Yeah, they got the long hair. Yeah. Yeah. Freaking dude, man. I was reading for him.

Lano

I was reading for him, and then they got knocked out. Yeah. Yeah.

Mig

It was kind of it was kind of it's kind of sucks because you even see in the England game how when Argentina played them.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Mig

They they they they put the rest put the damn New England back on their backs. That there was like this um the midfielder, I think the guy that that I forgot his name, what his name was. He had to change his whole the whole way he played, because kind of everything goes through him. Because he got yellow carded. No, not Kane. Oh. No, Kane is more the front guy, no, isn't he, Lono? Yeah, he's like a forward. Yeah, the forward. This guy's like the midfielder. Okay. But but he's kind of the one that directs everything. Well, this dude, he had to um he got yellow carded. So now, you know, you're yellow carded, you gotta be playing different. You can't be that aggressive and you have to switch up your it's kind of like basketball. Yeah, like you get two warnings, right? Yeah, you're gonna you're about to get damn fouled out. You you know you can't be as aggressive where they take you off, you know. It's kind of like that shit. And then and then compared to what Argentina was doing, you know, it's it's just it's bullshit, man.

Lano

And then I I didn't notice, but like I guess it was like a little scuffle after the game when they're like doing the the award ceremony or something.

Mig

Yeah, I guess they're trying to hire Argentina was put in the easiest bracket. They had the lease um yellow cards, red cards. And they also they didn't have to travel, uh they're the team that traveled the least of all of everybody. Wow. Of everybody in the tournament.

Lano

Yeah, because I think they stayed up, they stayed on the on the east coast. Yeah. Like in the Miami.

Mig

All their games were uh in the evening, like the late

Messi, Argentina, And Favoritism Claims

Mig

games. So they didn't have to deal with the sun playing in the sun. So all their games were were late in the were the last practically the last game of the day. Right. So they're playing evening games in the husband in the sun, so they didn't have to play in the evening and the night, so they'd have to play during the sun. Oh, that's good then that they lost, man, because yeah, you know, being handed everything all the way is like practically just show up to the championship game. Yeah. You know, and they still couldn't get it done. That's good.

Lano

And the game, I mean, I guess it's that was the worldwide like time that they agreed on, but like it was at 12 o'clock, it was a little early. Like the game? That was what on Sunday, right? Yeah, Sunday, like in the middle of the day, because um I just did like I picked up some I went to go get some meats and I I picked it up, and all of a sudden the game was already starting at 12 o'clock, and then obviously me, I fell asleep through the middle of it, and then wake up and then we we we ended up like barbecuing after the game. It was already done by like 2 30, 3 o'clock.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Mig

Spain won their second I think it's their second World Cup.

Lano

And then they I think they had like two teenagers. One guy was like 19. Martinez? Martinez? Uh well, one was some Yamal or something, Lam Lamin, Laman, Lamal, and then I don't know what the other one was.

Mig

Well, yeah, they because they say that even though he he's hyped up in like the future, that he was kind of like held in check in this game. But I don't think he scored a goal. He didn't score a goal like the whole tournament. It's like he wasn't as impactful as they wanted him to be, but I mean he's one of the reasons why they got there. Yeah, yeah.

Lano

So, but I mean But then I I did hear that um Spain, like the national team, they play more like team ball, where um that kid he plays for Barcelona and they just like feed him the ball all the time. But in the in the tournament, like the coach like the the tournament, the coach like you know, they spread it out or they play more of a team system or something like that. So it's different.

Mig

Because Spain, their isn't did I hear right that their goaltender was like the best one in the tournament? He didn't allow a goal, yeah.

Lano

Yeah, and I don't think he allowed a goal before the game they're saying he hadn't allowed to he didn't do a lot of work on on on Sunday.

Mig

That the the Argentina goalie, that dude got like 11 saves, man. Oh, okay. He's the one that I heard and then really went crazy in that game. Yeah, the the Argentinian uh goalie, he had like about 11 saves, man. He was they're attacking him, they're like kicking. That's what I'm saying. Like, I don't know how you say that was a boring game because uh Spain was attacking, man. Yeah, like they it wasn't until I think I saw the end of the regular time second half, where finally Argentina was starting to well Spain like controlled the ball, they dominated.

Lano

That's why I said it was it was all like one-sided, like that's why I say it was like boring. It wasn't like back in the back.

Mig

But all those shots, dude. Yeah, it was crazy, man. That's what I'm saying. Cause people could watch soccer and say it's boring if it's like a 1-0 score or like a 2-1 or whatever. Yeah, you know, because there wasn't a lot of scores or a lot of uh goals scored. I'm like, well, it's boring if yeah, if like there's no shots attempted or anything, but I mean if there's shots and corner kicks and you know, penalty kicks and saves and all this shit, and it's it's exciting, man. You know, it's like I see it. So many, so many guys um take forever to to get the shot off, man. Oh, that's what I hear that. That's ridiculous now. It's like that dude, like take the shot from like far out. Like, yeah, you're able to curve ball, like get the goal to go and get like set up a rebound or something, you know. Guys are just they want to make their moves and they want to get as close as they can and get a nice clear shot as well. Let's pull the trigger, yeah. Yeah, yeah. It's like you see how they're these guys are able to curve these damn balls, like that's crazy. Knuckle balls all the time. Look how crazy, like go back and watch them um um goals from Ronaldinho. Dude, he's got from like far, like crazy curve where he's getting him like top corner where just out of reach of the of the goalie. I'm telling you, I heard I heard one of the players, or maybe it could have been one of the announcers, like during um one of the breaks or something, talking about the they always like to kick the ball on the laces. I'm like, where does the soccer ball have laces? I'm like, well, what was what were they talking about? I don't know. Maybe it's the stitch, the stitch, like where the middle where the stitches are.

Lano

I don't even know it's a like hexagon pattern anymore. I don't even know if it's like oh yeah, huh?

Mig

Maybe it's all curved like kind of curved on the bottom.

Lano

I mean, I know they paint it differently, like it has like swirls and stuff, but I don't know how it's how it looks like. It's gotta be that.

Mig

There's gotta be something, dude, because for as much movement as those balls get like that, I mean there's gotta be something to the the way they designed them.

Lano

Like that official like World Cup mall, I think it's like 300 bucks or something. I could be wrong, it could be like 500. I was gonna say we should get one, but I'm not gonna pay that. That'll be our whole budget for the year. For the show. Who who would be our our resident um expert, David? The professor? David knows a lot. Yeah. Bring him next week before school starts, have him as a guest. You know what? I I have him as a guest.

Mig

No, I dropped him off like two weeks ago to Union. He was I dropped him off to he was going to China. And I don't even know what the hell happened to him. You know what? And I'm just realizing like I was supposed to pick him up. I dropped him off probably like two weeks ago. You drop him off like kill Bill, man. He takes the flyaway to the airport or what? I I yeah, I take him to drop off a union station, then from the union station he goes to the airport. But you know what? If he comes back, let me give him a let me shoot him a text real quick, cuz call him and then um. If he comes back and he has crazy kung fu skills, dude, I'm gonna call him the black mamba. So he he left during the World Cup to China. Or maybe the bow-legged mamba. Yeah, it was like um maybe the first knockout round. Yeah, because I remember I had mentioned it to you that we should have David in during the for the World Cup. For the World Cup. So we could talk World Cup. But then that's when Ray had said that he was going to China. I was like, oh shit. Like he you better not let them know how conservative he is.

Lano

And I want to hear about that trip.

Mig

So we gotta we gotta pick him up and bring him over here straight to the He said he's gonna go over there and um there's some program that he that he signed up for that he was gonna be able to like teach for like five days over there or something.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Mig

Let me see. You know what? Hold on. Teaching. You better you better be careful, dude, because all that grease on his face, so they might keep him there for oil. Here, you think you think it'll you think it'll sound right here on the microphone if I caught him? Try it, try it. I mean, yeah. I see. Since uh they blocked the uh streets of Hermuz they might try to get the oil from off of his face, right? Here we go.

Lano

I I hear it so you hear it?

Mig

Yeah, very good? Yeah.

Lano

Maybe that's how you call G2.

Mig

What time is it daytime? What is it, nighttime? I don't know. I don't know.

Lano

Depends on what part of China. I was I mean his phone is ringing, so I guess it's good being opposite. It's either 7 30 in the morning.

Mig

If he would have been captured, his phone would have been put in a drawer and it would have died out already. Please leave your message for the voicemail? No. What's China? I'll check right now here. Well China's big, so uh I mean it has to be Oh sh wow.

Calling David In China

Mig

Check it? Yeah, go you check it, man.

Lano

Alright, well they while they check the time um on the screen. I have um so my dad, he's you know, he says he's uh the OG of the Royal Cycle Boys. But um he went to um he went to a reunion. So on the screen we have a reunion of the it says the legends of a royal cycle. So we got my dad in the blue on the left. And then these are all um I don't know of um the guys or the the girl the women or what, but um these are these are all people who grew up on the on our street in the neighborhood. So they they had a big um reunion um in um I think Northridge in the valley. Oh okay.

Mig

Uh okay, really quick. Yeah. It's already Wednesday in China and it's 10 41 a.m.

Lano

10 41. So they're like teaching. Maybe he's still. Oh, maybe he's in class? Those are school hours. Yeah. Well maybe after after maybe after the show be his lunch break, maybe. Yeah. Let's see if he calls back.

Mig

So these are the the Um You said The Legends of the Royal. Who um who'd your dad say that um arranged that?

Lano

I don't know. Or organized that? I don't know. One of um I think it was the Gametz, I think, maybe Mrs. Gamet lived across the street from the school. I don't know.

Mig

And everybody live uh lived on Royal Cycle. They grew up in Royal Cycle.

Lano

I mean, I'm I I see the Garcias here. I mean they're like two houses down. That's only one I recognize, and that's because um they have a son that we grew up with too, Louis. But everybody everybody else, like I don't know. Shout out to Louis, he's uh he's a listener. Louis Garcia and then his brother Brian. But um Louis Louis works with me at the department, so uh I see him every once in a while. Yeah. So shout out to the the legends of the Royal Cycle.

Mig

The OG Orial Cycle Boys. That's that's those are our roots. The original traviesos of a royal cycle. Yeah, that's cool. Are you gonna be able to blow up that picture?

Lano

Um or are you gonna be able to be as big as big as we see it, as big as that, yeah. I mean if you're

Neighborhood Reunion And Being Off-Air

Lano

watching it on a TV, it'll be bigger. But um, we've been off the air for about a month. It's just, I mean, with work, everything. My parents they get mad at us every time we're not on the on the air, but I tell them, yeah. I mean, the the show is a big production, takes time.

Mig

Yeah, but if you ever have anything personal wrong with you, don't ever tell this fool. Because as soon as you see his parents, they're gonna call you on in.

Speaker 2

Why, whatever.

Lano

No, I just said you're I said you're a sick. That's all I said. Well, why was that the first thing out of her mouth then? They left it up to their imagination.

Mig

It's not just gonna pop out just out of nowhere, dude. Nick Nick had mud buttons, yeah. That was last week. No, last week was like two weeks ago. Last week, yeah, two weeks ago you had mud butt. Oh, dude, it was brutal, man. I don't know what the hell I ate or what it was, dude. But man. Yeah, dude. And it's crazy because it woke me up in the middle of the night. And I was just like, oh. And so I got up and just sounded like a water hole. Just like dude. And then so I'm getting ready in the morning to go to work, and every time I got off the dab toilet and started doing something, I went right back on there. And I'm I must have been on the toilet like a good 10-15 times that day, dude.

Lano

Were you able to go to work or no? No. No, yeah, I wouldn't.

Mig

No, I I called up, I called up man and told me, dude, I'm not coming in. I'm afraid to be 10 feet away from the toilet. Yeah, that's not a good thing.

Lano

I can't do it. Do you do you know um what it what caused it, like what you ate?

Mig

No, dude, I was trying to figure it out and there wasn't really anything that could pinpoint.

Lano

It was really weird. Because sometimes you could think of the food and then like, oh, that was it.

Mig

Because I didn't feel I didn't feel nothing else like it was food poisoning. I didn't have like an

The Diarrhea Story Nobody Asked For

Mig

upset stomach, you know, and I didn't have like a fever or anything, you know. So it wasn't like norovirus or something like that. Nothing like that. It was just it was it was um because you know what was going around? There was uh there was something going around. It was in the news. Well, like I think Taco Bell had some. No, this is before that. It was before that. The lettuce. It was causing diarrhea. Was it that? Yeah. Did you have Taco Bell? Um it was uh lettuce or just Taco Bell lettuce? No, no, no, no. Well lettuce. I mean it was uh Taco Bell used it, but it was uh from this certain farm, I guess. But there was I think they were saying that the farm they were getting it from Mexico. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, but I don't know. I I forgot what type of lettuce it was, but it was you probably had that lettuce. Lettuce was it was giving chorro. Oh, it could have been. Yeah, they could have that thing tore me up, man. It tore me up bad. Wow. And then um last week we were working eight.

Lano

Late, and then um three weeks would be you.

Mig

I think you had left town. I don't know. Yeah, that was the first one. That was the first one. There was one week where you left town. I think the following week I got sick.

Lano

But but and that that week you got sick, I had just came back that Monday, so I was like a little tired. Or or came back um the day before. You were happy he had chorus. Yeah, when he canceled all the canceled all like all. You were happy he had chorro. And that's why you went running to your mom. Mom, mom, guess what? Yeah, maybe I was explosive diarrhea. Oh, but don't tell them anything. Today or tomorrow they always call, like, did you record? Did you record? And so I have to tell them like good news or bad news.

Mig

Oh man. I mean, it's it it's kind of it sucks when you gotta wait for so

Laughlin Trip And Lake Day Logistics

Mig

long.

Lano

Yeah.

Mig

And then you went to um Laughlin again? I went to Laughlin, no, again. This is the first time this year, dude.

Lano

I thought you went earlier, like three months ago or something.

Mig

Uh you're right. The river was slow or something. Yeah, yeah. But this time the man, it was it was hot out there. It was it was pretty crazy hot, windy. Um but we we went with uh with Vanessa's uh brother's uh wife's family. They rented a pontoon over there, got everybody out into the it was Lake Mead in on Arizona side. Because I think there was a lake mead in Nevada, and then it was a lake mead on Arizona side, because you're right there on the borderline. You just cross the bridge and you're in Arizona.

Lano

Yeah.

Mig

I didn't know um, but I think the overall lake there, whatever, or the river is Lake Lake uh Mojave. So Oh yeah, it is the border, yeah. Yeah, so um yeah, it was cool because we went on the pontoon, got took all of our stuff um over to the one of those little coves. Because over there that whole lake, you gotta have a jet ski or a boat or something to pull up on a cove and you can have your like find your own little cove and then set up your thing and be chilling there, you know? And uh so we went with uh some some of their family friends, uh like a family friend and his family, man. They took so much shit, man. It's like me and Vanessa, we just took our our easy up, our double chair, our ice chest, and then like some floaties. Yeah. You know, our food or whatever, you know. But like big floaties. Yeah, bam, man. Yeah, you know what? But those floaties weren't good because we had bought those river floaties, and there are the other floaties we have are cool because you're like in the water, you're like half in the water. These floaties like like for like you're pulling or floating down the river. Oh you sit on top, so you're not really in the water. Yeah, yeah. Oh, and you wanted to be in the water out there.

Lano

I got burned, I got also unburned, man. You look a little darker. I've seen some floaties at Costco that I wanted to get where you're like you kind of like you're halfway in the water. Yeah, big five, man.

Mig

Big five has it has them on sale all the time. Oh, they're the best. Yeah.

Lano

Well, oh yeah. The ones that you don't need to inflate. Yeah, like Costco is like kind of like a blanket or not a blanket, like a sheet, and then it's like like floating devices on the ends or something like that.

Mig

Yeah, it's kind of like a U shape. There's a U shape, yeah. Something like that. The only issue with that is like when you gotta store it, you know? Oh floaty, you just deflate it up and and I took my little rigid uh compressor. I mean, that was that was a hit, dude. I was filling up everybody's shit. That that has a connect a battery to it? Yeah, it it's just a portable. My Ryobi one took a dump. I have a Ryobi one. It's it's kind of kind of weak, man. I have a Ryobi one like a like a drill, but it's uh mine mine is I have two of them. I have one in the van. That's just for the air, for the tires or even at work. Sometimes I gotta whatever, right? But the other one is like a bit a little bit bigger, square one. It also has the holes for the air tire, but it also has a high flow where you have uh a little hose to it, so you can high it's more air flowing through, so you can fill up a mattress or oh, like a bigger nozzle or something. Yeah, has different nozzles and all that, and for floaties and all that stuff, right?

Lano

Like a different thing.

Mig

Yeah, so that was a hit. I had my big old 12 amp battery on there and was able to fill up everybody. I remember the one time I went to Laughlin, we um we stayed on a house right on the right on the river. It's like you literally went to the backyard. You guys rented it? It was it was a friend that was taking that was house sitting for someone. So we didn't really have to pay.

Speaker 2

Oh, that's cool.

Mig

You know, but the house is a beautiful house, man. Yeah, you know, and then um you literally just like walk down and you're in the water. Yeah, and what was cool is that you go down there, man. You just set your chair down, and since it's down in that river where they were they like it in the off off season, they drain it, yeah, and then it's it's low. Yeah, yeah. Well, it's kind of low, but then uh like they'll open up the dam. And they let it all that the water will rise, yeah, and so you're sitting there, and one minute, you know, just your feet are getting wet, and you wait like 15 minutes, and then that shit's up to your waist, yeah, yeah. Like up to your chest. Oh, so you were there when they opened it. Yeah. Oh, that was cool. Yeah, well, that's neat. And yeah, but I think I think that's like a daily occurrence because I think they they open it for a while and then they close it. Like kind of like regulating it, you know? Oh, okay. Cause um their um uh Vanessa's uh brother's wife, it it uh it's her family that we went with. Yeah. And she has an aunt that has a a house on that river. Okay. On that same river. Yeah, and it was on the Arizona side. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, say yeah, yeah. Arizona side.

Lano

How close is it to the river?

Mig

It's right on there. Right on the bank.

Lano

You're right on there. So, like if the river flood like they get flooded, or if it's like a big storm or rain, or I mean water starts going to the edges, or no?

Mig

Um, I mean, it's still the the bank is still pretty, pretty high. Yeah, you know, before it gets to the house. So I would say it would have to be like a massive amount. Yeah, yeah. But it's crazy.

Dams, Geography Debates, And The Hotline

Mig

You ever see the video of them releasing that water? Nah. Yeah, it's pretty crazy. But I mean the thing the thing is it's the it's the Hoover Dam, dude, that's uh that they're releasing the water from. Right, right, right. You know, so you can you guys are. Isn't it? No. Hoover Dam is near nowhere near Vegas, I think.

Lano

No, no, I I just I mean I it's um That's a different it's a different dam. Is it a different dam? No, no, it's part of Lake Mead. I mean, from this map right here. Um you zoom in. Go to Lofton? You got Hoover Dam right here. Oh, you're lofton. I was talking about Lake. Is Lake Mead Lofton?

Mig

No, so that's what I'm telling you.

Lano

Lake Mead, that Lake Mead is near Vegas. Then Hoover Dam's over here. So this is the Lake.

Mig

But I'm telling you, the over there on the on the Arizona side, I think there's also a Lake Mead.

Lano

Or type in Lake Mead, Arizona. See, because Arizona um is this this little corner right here. So this is all that where all the action is.

Mig

So if you blow up that map and you follow the 40. No, that's uh that that that um that dam is small, man, compared to Hoover. Oh don't you remember like back in the day when we we we went over down? We had left to Hoover Dam and we even walked all the way down. Yeah. Yeah, that's that's a huge damn dam. Yeah, that's a huge damn dam. Yeah. That's any questions? Yeah, where'd you where'd get some damn bait? Yeah, yeah, no, no. But this that that yeah, look at that. That thing's huge, man. That's Hoover Dam.

Lano

Yeah.

Mig

Yeah, that's huge. Yeah, no, though the one over there at over there at that Arizona state line? No, that one's small. I'm gonna that one. I'm I'm gonna say that there's two different Lake Meads, one in Vegas, one in Arizona.

Lano

Well, this is Lake Mead, a reservoir formed by Hoover Dam on the Colorado River. It's located in the states of Nevada and Arizona.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Lano

Well, we'll we'll do more research.

Mig

I don't know. Or if anybody out there knows, feel free to call. Correct us. Call us idiots, call us morons, whatever you want. It just sucks that we stopped doing trips like that.

Lano

Well, you said it was near Laughlin, right? Yeah. Alright, oh sorry, keep going.

Mig

I I was just saying it just sucks that we stopped doing trips like that. Family trips, um camping or even doing water. Or are you talking about the Davis Dam in Laughlin Dam? Davis Dam is that one that's the one. Davis Dam is um the one that releases water in in that area.

Lano

Oh, okay.

unknown

Yeah.

Lano

Is Davis Dam. And in relation to Oh, it's way south of um same river, just way south of the of um Cover Dam.

Mig

Yeah, way down there.

Lano

Okay.

Mig

But again, if you guys want to call, tell us off. Tell us we're morons, or tell me I'm an idiot. I can take it. That number is 323. Oh yeah, give that number. 207 0012. That's 323 207 0012. The Drifter Hotline. Or if you want to follow us on Instagram, we're on Instagram under Drifting On Royal. And you could leave us a message there. Either me or Lono will answer it.

Lano

Yeah, just or text. That's how we got the photo. My dad texted it. Or text us too. Oh, you could text that phone number? That's where I got that picture. He texted it to the number, that photo. Just uh let us hear from you people, man.

Mig

Give us uh something to talk about. What the hell is that? Contribute if you enjoy the show.

Lano

Um how many days were you there?

Mig

Uh left Friday. Kind of afternoon. It's the afternoon.

Lano

Since it's south, it's a lot closer than Vegas, like like halfway or no.

Mig

Four hours, no. No, it's about the same distance. Because what you don't go north, you're going east. Oh, gotcha. So it's it's about the same. You go you go east, but then you get off on the roads, and then you go down those roads. You get off the 40 interstate, and then you're like on those roads.

Boyle Heights Fire And Solar Risks

Mig

It was it was uh it was kind of overcast, and there was rain. There was a little bit of rain. Yeah, we've been having weird weather with the yeah. Um I keep getting notifications that there's gonna be rain within the hour or whatever. Thunderstorms.

Lano

It's weird because it would say like heat wave, all these warnings, and then say like monsoon coming or something like that.

Mig

This week there's gonna be a heat wave. Well, I mean, because the thing is, I mean, driving around, look at the mountains. And in the mountains, you see all the clouds and everything up there. And that's where all the rain and yeah, and everything is. Because like I'll be I'll be driving around and I'll get closer and closer to Almani, and like drops will start falling. Yeah, you know, but that's because you're getting closer and closer to the foothills, and that's where the moisture all collects, you know. But you go get further away from it, go further south, and yeah, just the sun burning your ass.

Lano

Now, I don't remember if we talked about it last time, or was it in the um that Boyle Heights fire? That smoke that meat? Oh, that's meat. Was that new? That's new. The meat plant? Yeah, or storage facility. It was just a storage or something. Oh, cold storage.

Mig

What was that? What was for the meat, right? Well, for food, just cold storage, like frozen food. Did anybody people were complaining that it was like the smell of it? Yeah, that was that.

Lano

Did you drive through it, Miggy? Did you have to go through it or no? Nah, I haven't. So no one smelled it. I've been avoiding that area. I was wondering if anybody had to go through it if it was like that bad.

Mig

No. It's funny because we're actually we're we're helping out um a friend of ours that he he's not doing that kind of work anymore, but he used to do uh engine work, like machining. And he had his shop down there in that area, like off of Union Pacific. He didn't he did machining for engines. You remember Felix? Sammy and Felix? Yeah, Sammy. Well, his helper Felix? Yeah, yeah. So he's doing the engines? No, not anymore. No, he quit that years ago. Oh. Yeah, because it wasn't there's no money in it. You know, just because everybody's buying shit online and everything. Crate engines? Yeah. So there's really nothing left in it.

Lano

So it was like near Lorena, right? Or no? Kind of, yeah. But closer to the train tracks and all that stuff?

Mig

Yeah. So um, you know, we were we were doing some work on one of his trucks yesterday, and I thought I told him, hey, dude, it's our article, you're not doing the machining anymore. I thought because that fire, I thought that stink you would be putting up with that shit every day. Yeah. It's like because his shop was like right there. You know, and like he didn't know about it. I'm like, how do you know about it?

Lano

Yeah. I'm like, how did he not know about it? Oh, I thought that was like like world news or something.

Mig

Yeah.

Lano

Hey, so you know you guys know what happened, right? Yeah, what happened? The solar panels caught fire. Yeah, so they're installing solar panels, and then they said the guys like something sparked or something, they caught fire, and then the like workers weren't ran off the roof.

Mig

I don't think they were installing them, I think they were already installed, they were doing like some kind of maintenance work. Or something, yeah. And of course they have like their lithium batteries and shit, just like the Teslas once they catch fire.

Lano

Yeah, the capacitors up there and all this stuff.

Mig

And why do they do that? Because these dumbasses in Sacramento promised some tax breaks or whatever to go solar. Well, there you go. Rust your whole building.

Lano

Well, so they they called us. I didn't know why they called us, but they called us to like disconnect the solar so then the fire department could could get up there and put it out. So like um we we we sent the team up there and then they had to like disconnect it or do something while they they were able to put the fire out. But I didn't understand why, like how it kept like reigniting. Like days later it kept like reigniting, so I don't know. Well, because those batteries, dude, those batteries kept igniting. Oh yeah. What do you mean?

Mig

Well that makes sense, but but they don't want to say that.

Lano

But the the I guess the the food, I don't know, like it was just rotting everything and smelling like crazy. Wow.

Earthquakes, San Andreas, And Doom Talk

Lano

And then um, I don't know if you guys have been following the role, but there's been like a lot of earthquakes lately. You guys haven't seen all that stuff?

Mig

Yeah, earthquakes were.

Lano

There was a pretty big one in uh like Mexico had one of those, like a in the was it in the Gulf? Um outside the Gulf, it was like but it was down there like the UK. That was like a seven year like a seven five or something. Wow, during the when the World Cup started, it was right after they finished, right after Mexico got eliminated, like a day later.

Mig

So hopefully like the big one that Venezuela got.

Lano

Yeah, Venezuela had a big one. The Philippines had a big one, and then then like some report came out that like the San Andreas is like stressed like a thousand times or something like that. So something's something's gonna snap. Something's gonna give. We're gonna fall into the ocean. But everything's been ringing. I think the Philippines had a volcano and a and a fire. I mean a volcano and an earthquake. Well, uh, an earthquake, and then that causes them um what is that um hurricanes?

Mig

No, tidal. Oh tidal waves? Tsunamis?

Lano

Tsunamis in the water. Hell no, man. So things have been getting crazy. Man, they've been like that already for years. And then what else has been going on? What else? Get the fuck off my head. Because they're they're saying that like um like the Salton Sea is gonna connect to the um what is it, the Gulf of California? What's the the the water between um Baja and Mexico? What is that called? Sea of Cortez?

unknown

No.

Mig

No, that's the the Baja Baja. Yeah, Gulf of Baja.

Lano

So they're saying like the the Gulf of Baja is gonna stretch up all the way up to like um the Salton Sea. Like the finger's gonna like split right there. Shh BFO. Well, is it not riverfront, but seafront property or whatever. So there's been a lot of stuff happening, that's why we're unable to record we weekly.

Mig

You you see that there's a lot of uh I mean I I mean, I don't know if it's just all hyper videos that are popping up on

New Cars, Oil Changes, And Mechanics Quitting

Mig

my algorithm. I mean, people are finally getting fed up with all these damn new cars. Oh where they're trying to now they're starting to look for old cars now. Yeah. Instead of all this damn crap. Yeah. I mean, that's all that pops up now. The gyps are what they what are they complaining about? On that same note, um mechanics are they're all quitting. I see them algorithm too. Mechanics are quitting that they're not because it's it's bullshit. They're already rage, man. Yeah. And then warranty work, they don't get paid for it. Warranty work? Yep. It's ridiculous. That's the way the dealers are the way the dealers are setting it up. The dealer the asshole guys in the in the parts department are getting all the damn all the good the pay, because selling all the all the parts, right? Yep. It's like just just take just take my truck for instance. 2018 Ford F-150. My trucks, from what I've heard and people I've heard on on videos, like Ford Mechanics, they say that these trucks with their engines now are designed to only live up to the lease. So they're built to just have a lifespan of like three years. Whatever their lease is. So after their lease, they start falling apart unless they're properly taken care of. And what's properly taken care of it, well, it's not what the manufacturers recommend.

Lano

No, under all the whatever.

Mig

The manufacturers in my book, it was saying that my oil change intervals and my my oil change lineual, your book was anywhere between 9,500 and 10,000 miles.

unknown

That's ridiculous.

Mig

You see, and I'll tell you right now that having a turbocharged engine, those turbals beat the shit out of the oil. Yeah. And there's no way that these synthetics are gonna last for 10,000 miles.

unknown

You can't win!

Mig

You know, and that's the thing. You know, that they don't they don't really care. That that was that was our discussion way back then when they when I was going down that rabbit hole, the thickness, the viscosity of all the oil. Yeah, that's right. And I continued it, and I kept watching more and more videos and seeing more and more mechanics talk about it. Yeah, and I'm like, dude, it's like I'm glad I did what I did with my truck because that's why I've had zero problems with it. Every and you're a mechanic, not everybody can do it. That's why I'm gonna do that. All the cars, I'm doing every 3,000 miles. Yeah. I go, I can I I know I could probably stretch it. You could probably stretch it a five. To five. Yeah. But I 3,000 is is where I'm staying at because that's where it was before, and that's what I'm that's what I do. And so if I if I hit the mark, like I say, three every 3,000 miles, and you get busy, whatever, then and you go a little bit over it, then you're still good. Yeah. Because oh, I'm busy here, I can't take it, and you you get another thousand dollars. Well, you say three thousand might be every five thousand, because by the time you get there, no, no, because usually I'm pretty good at right on three thousand, around three thousand. But let's just say you're busy, you don't you can't get it there, or something, just whatever. It goes over, like because of just life. So at least at least you hit within that three to five thousand and you're still good. But I think five as a maximum is good, and as an average it would be good because oil now, it's a lot better. You know, and the synthetics and everything, they they withstand a lot more than the old conventionals. I I don't even risk the the van with those turbos on those vans because but getting back to why the mechanics are quitting,

Tool Debt And Snap-On Alternatives

Mig

there was one mechanic that I saw and did an interview. He says that that he quit because they don't even pay you to diagnose. Like say you have a problem with a car, and it takes you about three hours, four hours to diagnose it, and you finally figure out what part is it, and the part takes you like half an hour to change, and you know, the the dealer, their specs or whatever say that you know the hours that you get paid for it are gonna be three hours. Yeah. So you spend three hours diagnosing and say, you know, uh a cheater code or whatever, and you get it done quick, so it's three hours of the repair. Yeah. Well, he says that the diagnosing, they don't pay you for diagnosing. But I bet you charge it though. They oh yeah, they charge it. Yeah, they charge it. Oh yeah, they charge it. Yeah, but the mechanic only gets half an hour of pay to diagnose.

Lano

So every job or um like there's some algorithm the computer suggests is it should take you this long? Then they have to do that. No, they don't have a book.

Mig

No, they'll have a book, though. Or there are software that says, okay, this job should only take so many, so much time, so many hours. It's pretty much standardized. You know, it's like brake jobs should take this long, you know, whatever. And that's what they put the label back. That's whatever. But say you bring in your car and you tell me it has a misfire, but there's no check engine light on.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Mig

You know, that's something you really gotta dive into and figure out what's wrong and why is it why is it not triggering a trouble code. You know, and you can you can sit there for Ever dude trying to figure out what it is and test components and do all kinds of shit and everything, and then you finally find out that it was uh a freaking a loose clamp on an intake hose or whatever. Yeah, you know, and so you tighten it up and then what like what do you what do you say you're gonna charge? Just tightening up the clamp? You tell the customer that it's like well, all you do is tighten up the clamp. It's like why why are you charging me so much, you know, or whatever? It's like, well, dude, you know, it's like you gotta diagnose it, I gotta figure out what's wrong with it. Yeah, mechanics are being glad it was just that, yeah, you know, but then the dealer has no problem charging you the four hours that it took to do to figure that out, but that poor guy, he's only gonna get a fraction. And it's and it's and it's messed up because they're they're they're going in. Say you're you're you're burning starting off and you're you're learning that stuff.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Mig

You know, you're what you're getting paid, whatever, and then you're gonna the tools you have to pay? Yeah. You're gonna get in debt 10, 20 G's, yeah, because you have to buy your own stuff. Now you're now you're behind the ball, like and getting paid what you get paid. Oh, and then especially the way these tool guys are, man, the snap-on guys and the Mac guys down when they pull up in their nice, beautiful, shiny trucks. Yeah, and you're like a kid in a toy store, dude, when you walk into those trucks and they're like, Oh, I'll put you on a payment plan. Yeah, I'll you gotta do is give me 40 bucks a week, you know. That's that's stupid. That's stupid for the guys that are that want to be the fanboys of that. They're like, Oh, I gotta get snap on. I gotta get snap on because there's uh there's a chick that used to work for Snap on. Uh this chick called she's Val Tools. Yeah, Val Tools. Um, so she went, um, says she has her social media, she's posting her stuff on YouTube and all that stuff. While Snap on gave her, hey, you gotta stop that, or you know, you gotta leave. I mean you gotta stop that, or that way you could continue working for Snap on. Yeah. While she kept, she she kept, she went on her own. And she's she had she kept her truck, she sold back all the snap on. Yeah, that girl. Look at her videos and see she's she has her own tool truck and she goes back to everything, and now she's able to carry whatever the hell she wants, and there's because there's so many um things out there now. Like she like she's she carries a bunch of Milwaukee stuff and Sonic stuff and so she reviews tools? No, no, she just she sells them, but you know, the vendors go to her and they're like, Oh, I saw this on your truck. So she has her website and then she has the stuff on her truck where she'll pull it up and they're like, Oh yeah, let me try this. Because she'll have like something new from an from another company is like, oh, try these out. Like like Grip Edge, check out these bits, these grip edge bits, like, you know, they're like, Oh yeah, you know, try them out, and then like it's it's cool because they could just warranty with her because she's has her connection with the companies or whatever. So it's just the same, but now she's not just limited to just straight Snap-on where there's a lot better options and way lesser, you know, stuff. So I think that's that's that's what's gonna start happening because people I mean, unless these guys are idiots and they keep buying just oh, because it's snap-on, it's not. Oh you'll you'll always have those dumbasses, and it's like hard for the new guys, for new guys. We were we were done with snap on like probably like 20 years ago, yeah. Like buying off of a snap-on truck. It's ridiculous, man. It is, it is they have a they have a they came out with uh with the a drill that was like a thousand dollars, and the thing was underpowered. The the guy tools was tools uh with souls, the guy tests all the drills, yeah. The thing was a piece of crap. The the battery was like an outdated battery, I it compared nothing to like the Milwaukee, the wall, rigid, all the stuff that's out there. No, it was way underpowered. It was like it's it was ridiculous, man. But just because it's snap-on, yeah, you know, and snap on they had like a lifetime warranty or no? Yeah, they do, yeah.

Lano

But so does Craftsman.

Mig

But it's just it's just ridiculous, dude. The snap-on's pricing, yeah. There's like a small I agree, a small little quarter-inch ratchet. Quarter inch ratchet, a small whatever, seven inch long, would be selling for like 180 bucks. That's stupid.

Lano

I mean, I never had snap-on tools, but like, is it as easy that they say, like, oh, you just take it to the truck and they replace it? It used to be, yeah. Was it ever that easy? No. It used to be. Uh-huh.

Mig

It's like some some of these guys got really like really inspecting it or warranty or yeah, or what what they would and what they wouldn't. But you're what did it matter? You're supposed to be able to. But what did it matter? Whether it broke, it broke. Like, it's lifetime. Yeah, but the the thing properly or the thing is like like say if I have a ratchet and I find a random truck somewhere, you you you're thinking you should be able to just go take it and any truck. Any truck, yeah.

Speaker 2

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Mig

Well, yeah, you'd be picky. That's like if you're a normal customer, yeah.

Lano

Oh, they're the same, it has to be a good one.

Mig

But then the thing, like, guys complain, like, yeah, the uh snap-on or mac truck hasn't been back, or Macco uh truck hasn't been by in weeks. So they're like, ah, F this dude. So that's another thing. Like, if they're not coming around, I remember our Snap-on guy too. Some white boy named Jay. Yeah, Jay. You remember him? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, he was cool. This other mustache, yeah. Yeah, he was cool, dude. Yeah, he was cool. And when once he stopped, that was it. We were done with Snap on. Yeah, I remember Jay. It's like because he was he was like our he was our guy, dude. Yeah, dude. He was he was cool, man. Yeah, yeah. I remember I remember going up on the truck and yeah, checking it out. Yeah, he was cool. He was a cool dude. Yeah, like it was. That was the only guy you guys used. I think so. Manual might have used someone else when he was working for Freightliner. But um But no, that's a as far as I know. Yeah, he was the only one. Yeah. That was probably when we were where? When we were We were right here by the house. We were like behind the the iHop and the theater. And the theater, yeah, down the street. How did you guys get a hold of him? Or how did my dad? Oh. From like Foremost and Ross and Swiss and all those places.

Ice Cream Nostalgia And Old Shoplifting

Mig

I know we said Foremost, you know, I got in a thrifty ice cream. Where do you get it at the uh I got it at Stater Brothers 250 anniversary Sherbert? Damn, that thing was so good. Oh, it's red, white, and blue? Red, white and blue. So what was it? Was it like lime, raspberry, and I don't know what it was. Well, and I'm gonna look for it. Do they still have it? It was damn good. I still got it probably like half a gallon left. It was sold in a two-pack of half gallons? Stater brothers. Stater brothers.

Lano

They might still have it, I don't know, but oh you know in Almonte. I don't know, is it thrifty or foremost? Is it like the factory? Thrifty. Thrifty. Oh, thrifty. In Almani, right? Like off the freeway?

Mig

Um consider that rose mead.

Lano

Oh, oh, Rosemead. Can you buy stuff there? Is that just like wholesale or or no? Or does it that's just where they make it?

Mig

I'm not sure.

Lano

The thrifty plant? Well, the plant right now.

Mig

You know where the Del Taco's at? Yeah, you're 50 off the tent?

Lano

Behind it, huh?

Mig

Off the Rosemead exit?

Lano

Oh yeah.

Mig

Okay, well, if you keep like if say you get off the exit, pass the Del Taco and you just keep on going. Because there's a credit union that goes to the city. I go to the credit union right there. There's a thrifty plant there.

Lano

You take the exit the wrong way, you get stuck and they make you loop around there or whatever.

Mig

Yeah, the loop is kind of messed up though.

Lano

But I just wondered if you could go, if customers could go buy stuff.

Mig

I had that sherbet. I had that sherbet, and and it and it reminded me like how good the sherbet was right here at the La Henica. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, I was like, I was telling Vanessa, like, I told you about I I told you about La Henica, right? She's like, yeah, we're used to steal ice cream. I'm like that. No, he used to steal chocolate from the liquor store. Oh, I stole, I stole from La Henica too. You stole the ice cream from them? Yeah, I forgot. What a low life. No, yeah, yeah. Because you walk in, you have the the ice cream, the salad, the yeah, like the gallons that you make, right? Well, by the door, the freezer, the palettes there. Yeah. So how are you like that? So what I would do, what I would do is I would He had the bell on the door, so I had to like go down low so you couldn't see me when he's been doing his eyes from the back. And I would I'm not proud of it, man. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not proud of it. But I would open the I would be crawling in and I would open the door slowly, slowly so the bell's not ringing, and I would be crawling in on the floor. So I opened the door just enough and I would crawl in, let the door close, and then I would crawl over to the to the the freezer and I would I'd be watching them and then when and then I would open it and I'd get my my coco or whatever the the the lime the limon was the the was a good one. Nah, their best one was Tootie Fruity. No, I they had a flavor called Tootie Fruity, dude. Ooh, that was the best. I got it, and then as soon as I had it, as soon as I got it, I run out the door like ling ling ling ling, and then he'd be coming out, and then he'd be like, I'm already gone. And I got my paletta. But one time, one time he he he he caught me. He caught me where I was calling in, and he comes in and he sees me on the floor, and I'm just like right there. I was like, I think I had told him. I think I had told him, I think I had told him that I was just looking at the menu, whatever. Like, I'm right there sitting on the floor, and they're looking at the menu, and then I'm like, Oh, I'll be back. And then I left. Like he had caught me one time trying to try to crawl in, dude. But yeah, I know I'm not happy about that. A little little background for all you that didn't know Rick back then in the days. Yeah. Uh pre pubescent pre-pubescent Rick. He was a little fat man. Yeah. And he he would love wearing red. He always had these red sweats and sweatshirt that he would always wear. So since he was such a little fat man, I always call him tomato. Yeah. Oh, that shit would piss him off, man. Yeah, they you know, so just imagine that.

Lano

We gotta bring the pictures, bring the photos so we can put them on Instagram.

Mig

Oh, we gotta do some mean digging for that, dude. Yeah, I don't know. Uh there's other teams, but not of me in red. But yeah, just picture a little fat man like that going in there and stealing snacks, dude. We're either at the little liquor stores that uh the Asians owned. Lee, you know, Mr. Lee? Mr. Lee or La Hennica man. I didn't know you stole ice cream from La Hennica. What a loser. Yeah. But when I wanted it like like ice cream cone, you know, I had to pay for that. I'm looking at still that. Wow. Nah, I've I I mean I'm I felt bad about that.

Lano

I mean, a little bit about it. So now when you buy ice cream, you always tip big or what? How bad how bad did you feel? How bad did you feel?

Mig

No, I don't know. I'm gonna tip I'm gonna tip for that. I mean because why why am I gonna tip someone here, you know?

Lano

Besides this, like the store taking homework, where do you guys buy ice cream at? Like, I haven't been to Bask Baskin Robins like in 30 years. I don't know. Like you guys go to those Michoacan, or what's it called? Those ice cream there.

Mig

You know, I've been pretty good. Uh it's my first time trying it, but I should go more to support my customer, my my biggest account. Handles. Oh, handle handles ice cream, dude. I had handles, dude. I had handles yeah, handles is good.

Lano

So good. Yeah, I had handles.

Mig

I've been meaning to go back.

Lano

I think we go to we go to one in upland and then I think there's one in Pasadena, like um on foothill. Um, so keep me employed people, go to handles. Yeah, no, handles is that's like yeah, that's the place where we can. Go to handles, Yoshinoya, and Dutch Brothers. So that's your customer? Yeah.

Mig

Oh, nice. We went driving. Well, we we went on our way to Laughlin and and we stopped at Ludlow. Ludlow?

Rick

Uh-huh.

Mig

Ludlow? Or Lulo? Ludlow. I don't know how you say it. Ludlow. Dairy Queen. I miss Dairy Queen, dude. I got a damn Biscoff blizzard. We I mean we stopped again.

Lano

That's what they say they flip it over?

Mig

Yeah. We stopped again on the way back, driving back home. Yeah. It's like we gotta stop. Because it was it was a new one, the Biscoff blizzard. Uh I think like a fruity one, and then there was like a hot chocolate, Mexican hot chocolate um blizzard. I was like, nah, let me try that damn biscoff because I know there's gonna be pieces of cookie of biscoff in there. Well, let me tell you a recent uh a recent Fat Man Heartbreak story. Oh, I got one after you. Okay. A couple weeks ago, I went with my friend, and we we were craving like pizza, so we just went to BJ's and we had pizza and wings, dude. They were so good. Oh, that's good. Yeah, dude. They got the got the classic combo, which is perfect for that.

Lano

You could forget about the pizza and just get meals, but yeah, pizza was good.

Mig

I saw the classic combo, mushrooms, uh, pepperoni sausage. Yeah, exactly what I wanted on pizzas. Ordered that, ordered some wings. The wings are really freaking good, ordered another round, boom. So you know, had the large pizza because I I ordered it large because I knew I was gonna take it home and eat it like for the rest of the week. Uh-huh. And so I'm on my way home, you know, we ate early. I'm on my way home, and I'm like, dude, it was like we didn't have any dessert. I'm like, you know what? I'm gonna stop at a Del Taco and get a strawberry shake because our strawberry shakes are so good. So I stop, I get my shake. It was really watery, so I'm like, I'm gonna I'm gonna wait till I get home, put it in the freezer, let it thicken up a little bit. So I get home, you know, I take in a couple of drinks of it, and I'm like, man, this is gonna be so good. So I get home, get my pizza, get this, get the shake, walking in the door. I go to unlock the gate, got the pizza in my hand right here, set the shake down. Max right there waiting for me. Yeah, I go open the gate, I open it, and I don't pay attention, and little by little this hand's going. Look, people, so I have the pizza right here, and little by little this hand's going down like that. So, what does the shake do? Like right off the box, hit the floor, the pop, the top didn't come off yet. Okay, you know, so it hit the floor, boom, boom, and then it slowly tipped over. That's when it popped open, and everything spilled out.

Lano

And then you say Max got it when you lowered your hand.

Mig

Well, yeah, after. Yeah, I'm like, I'm looking at it and I'm like, oh man, are you kidding me, dude? I'm like, I was like, okay, guys. The pizza, the pizza was safe? Yeah, pizza was good. Uh yeah, it was safe. But I'm like, okay. It's like if you don't want me to have the shake, dude, then you should have just had me not stop and waste my five bucks on it. It's a five dollar shake. You got no bourbon or nothing in it. Yeah, so there was Mac. I'm like, dude, get away. You're gonna get sick. It was for Mac. Oh, but it was too much.

Burritos, Fast Food Wins, And Food Fails

Mig

He would have gotten sick. I still have a little bit.

Lano

World Cup Sunday. Um, I'm just like up early, so I was like, I'm gonna go to the El Cancerilla and get some meat. Like get some ranchetta or make it for the World Cup. So I go to the closest one for us is Almani. So I go there and it's it's over there off of Peck Road. Yeah. And then I'm like, oh, I gotta pick up breakfast for the for the kids and my wife. And then uh my brother in law had told me about this place called Taco Treat in Arcadia. He said that they got like some like famous bean and cheese burrito. Sounds familiar. Taco treat. Taco treat. It looks like a like a like a triangle. So, anyways, I was gonna go, but I looked it up and I was like, it wasn't gonna open for like another hour because I was I was up early and it opens at 10 and it was still like nine o'clock. Was it on Duarte Road? Uh I don't know, I have to look it up. So, so then um I was like, I passed by Arts, so Arts is right there. So I was like, let me go to Arts. I go to Art, I get one Big John and then one regular breakfast burrito because my wife didn't never like the Big John. We get home, dude. Burrito was it just wasn't wasn't good. It was all potatoes, like no flavor. Like I couldn't get the flavors of the meat.

Mig

No way. And I remember was the old man there?

Lano

No, it was like some young guy who had to walk out to the car and take the order, and then he'll get flushing the tickets back.

Mig

That's the problem because first time when they first opened, I went, it didn't taste the same to me. Not that it was bad, like how he's saying, but just it tasted different. Uh-huh. But then I went back again and the old man was there. With the daughter, I guess, with the girl. Yeah. The young girl. Both of them were there. And it came out on point. Oh, okay. So I'm guessing we gotta tell him. Yeah. We gotta tell him, hey, man. I mean, I haven't been I haven't been back since, but you gotta be more consistent with this.

Lano

So um just to go, so yeah, so I had told my wife this is probably the last time we're gonna go. But now that you're saying wait for the old man, maybe not.

Mig

Yeah. Well, you guys don't like the burgers or the hot dogs?

Lano

Well, I just went for the breast reader. I didn't even think about the burger. But it wasn't the same, and then like, you know, that outside lane wasn't open, it's just the inside lane. Yeah. But it kind of looked like you're falling apart because it looked like the speakers weren't working or something, but the some cable was running out taking orders and rushing the tickets back in the back.

Mig

Well, they've been they've been doing that because the line gets so long. Yeah.

Lano

But um, this is Taco Treat. Um, it's on Live Oak. Live Oak. And um, I don't know, my brother-in-law said that he he read somewhere they had like the best bean and cheese burrito. Oh, look at here. Oh, this is bean burrito. So live oak.

Speaker 2

So I was gonna try it in Arcadia over there. I think I've seen that.

Lano

Is it live oak?

Mig

That's not recording?

Lano

So I haven't so I haven't been there yet, so I wasn't I was gonna try it, but I ended up going to uh um arts and then like I was very disappointed. Okay, I'm gonna have to try that. But um I think I always passed it. On a brighter note, we we did try that Monty's. We've been back like twelve two or three times now.

Mig

Which one? Oh Monty's Monty's like I gotta go try it.

Lano

Yeah, they have um did you ever did you were able to try that one?

Mig

Which one? I I want you guys to try that that that the that plate. Which one? The one that I get. Uh Monty's is the no no I'm sorry. No, Monty's is right there in the hamburger where it's a sandwich. They have uh the Philly cheesesteak place you said. Oh no, no. I'm thinking about the Robin Place. They call it what was the sandwich that's a different name for it.

Lano

The cheddar or no, I think it's the Robin place.

Mig

Oh. But it's not like artisan something.

Lano

Oh, Artisan Noodle. Alright, so um to wrap up the show, um, I said.

Mig

Well, wait, before before, you know, and just a quick little hit. You know the fat burger burger is really damn good. Yeah. Fat burger? Fat burger. That burger's damn good. It's like the like there's the seasoning of the meat or something. It's like I don't know. It's it's everything, dude. I can't even remember seeing that I ever had it. I think I did have it once, but in Vegas. That is solid. That is such a solid burger. We had it right there at Laughlin. Yeah.

Lano

No, it's a good burger. It's I mean, yeah, it's I mean, you forget about it, but once you get it, like you like we'll get it and go back like three times like in a month. Yeah, and then we forget about it.

Mig

You gotta try a fat burger, uh, burger, dude. It's it's damn good.

Lano

I think it's a seasoning, like a pepper or something they put in the meat potato. It's it's that, and then the the the I mean the vegetables, everything. Yeah, it's just make it to where you want it.

Mig

Fat fat fries or skinny fries. That was cool because I got chili cheese fries too. The guy with the fat fries. Well, I don't think I have the chili cheese fries. Yeah,

I Play Rocky Trailer Reaction

Mig

chili cheese fries are good.

Lano

So um, to wrap it up, I I sent these guys a trailer, the the I play Rocky trailer. Mickey didn't see it, so um, he was having difficulty. So we're gonna watch it right now, right? We're gonna watch it right now, and hopefully in the editing, I'm able to do uh live reaction video. Live reaction video. Okay, so do you give an intro right now? Um what do you mean the intro? To the reaction video? Yeah, so we'll watching I play Rocky and this is our live reaction. Let's see if it comes up with something in post-production. We'll see. We'll see how. I'm I'm gonna try to do picture to picture. We'll see if we're able to do it. Alright, let's see. This is our reaction.

Speaker 2

I play Rocky.

Mig

You know what's crazy? Couple things. I want to hear I want to hear that actor and how he really talks. Like how close the voice we may we did a little research. He um he also played Al Pacino in the same kind of well, in the same kind of deal. Uh-huh. But it was um on Paramount when they did when they did the story of uh how the Godfather movie was made or like came to be. It was a documentary or movie? It wasn't a documentary, it was a movie, it was like a series, like a mini-series. So what this guy's uh well, that's what Arnold was saying. But but in that one, and he sounds like Al Pacino in that one, dude. So he's uh he's those um pretty callers, yeah. I don't know. Kind of like a chameleon almost. Yeah, he's a and he bulked up but then personator. Yeah, but then when he was really young, he came out in pixels and he was supposed to be Adam Sandler when he was a younger version of Adam Sandler, yeah. You know when they show those scenes where he's a kid playing the arcades and everything? No, not impersonator. What are they called? What do they call that?

Lano

Like um Yeah, like a Jamie Foxx impersonator impressions?

Mig

Yeah, yeah. Like like like Caliendo, what does he do? He's uh it's another different word for it. I think it's the same thing. Impressions impression and impressions, impressions, uh not impersonator impressions, yeah. Same thing. Uh whatever. Um, but that that's that's another thing is crazy that damn Rocky is obviously on board on board with this, right? Yeah. So this is the movie? He's directing it, or what's it?

Lano

No, no, no. Apparently he has nothing to do with it. He's just about him. I mean, he he's not like a give it a green light.

Mig

I'm sure he gave the go ahead, you know.

Lano

Hey, I saw an interview and and um the actor, uh, his name is Anthony Apolito. He like he said he zoomed Sylvester because he was filming Tulsa Kings. Uh-huh. And then um, like he he gave him his blessing and and told him how it was, like making the movie and all that stuff. So oh. So I mean he had his blessings and stuff, but like um So he has nothing to do with the movie. So the guy just has Stone wrote a script or whatever, I don't know how they make it.

Mig

He just wanted to make a movie about um Rocky.

Lano

I mean, yeah, I guess people knew that story, how he made it, and then they went, like, let's bring it to the big screen or whatever.

Mig

I mean, it's it's it's it's cool that they're doing an original script like that. Yeah, you know, I was gonna say if Rocky's doing that, it's like, how the hell is this guy being able to you know make another movie about Rocky? That was like before. Yeah, like it's like dude, the dude's that that's what I thought. Yeah, I thought he was a little bit more than a lot of people. When I first heard of this, I thought it was a prequel to Rocky.

Speaker 2

Oh, yeah, yeah.

Mig

You know, I thought it was like him really as a really young boxer coming up. You know, his life was coming up as a really young boxer, but apparently it's the making of the movie.

Lano

And then I just thought like they could do five of them, like the making of Rocky 2. No, they can. Rocky 5. Stupid. This is a uh a one one hit. So that's it. Everybody's been been talking about it. I've already seen like uh maybe two or three reaction videos. But I'm sold.

Mig

I want to see it. So what uh do we make it a damn? There's gonna roll the theaters or what? I just saw we say we we do it when is it in November? November. I'm I'm thinking Thanksgiving weekend, or I don't know. When was the last time you had the movie theater? A long time. I might have been the last one I movie I saw. Might have been Rocky Five Dune 2.

Lano

Oh, then then I saw they're doing a three, like a trailer for three. Yeah, I'm waiting for that. The Dune 2 was good.

Mig

Those first ones were good, dude. When Avengers you ever see those movies? I saw the first one, not the second.

Lano

Dude, missing out, dude. Yeah, yeah. All right.

Closing Thoughts And Next Week

Lano

So, um, yeah, next week, everybody. All right, good to be back.

Speaker 2

All right, gave him a little bit longer one.

Mig

Glad uh we were able to entertain you guys at least for a little bit, so yeah. God willing, we'll be back next week. Until then, keep on dripping, yo. Peace.
