Thanks for Listening!
Apple vs Android
MigWelcome back to the Drifting on Arroyo podcast . This is Mig .
LanoThis is Lano and RK67 .
MigWhat's up people ? What's going on ? What's going on .
LanoWe should have saved our pre-show meeting right now .
MigMan , we had a . We were pre-gameing right now and got pretty heated in here . Yeah , as it will , with our audience . The whole Apple versus Android discussion and our producer is outnumbered here two to one . So iPhone is ridiculous , but yeah , it's crap , it's garbage .
LanoRidiculous .
MigYou can pay me enough money to own an iPhone and use it your iPad is Wi-Fi only or has the chip , the SIM card , my what iPad ?
LanoYeah , only Wi-Fi .
RK67Because now and that's signing with your same Apple ID , right ? Yep , I did it all because it's all with the business . Yeah , so it's all . Now . Your phone calls , everything are going to be all like connected and your texts and from your , from your work phone and your work iPad iPhone's all easy and all this .
LanoNow , apparently , if I give you my number , I got to give you my email too . That way , if you want to send me lasers or confetti or balloons or kisses or anything , you got to put down my my wait for it another step . It's another step that iPhone users got to do . They always hate . Like , you want to send me a photo on my Android , you got to go into a WhatsApp or whatever , or , god forbid , you got to go into a nap and send me something , but now you got to . If you want to send me lasers and balloons , you got to put my email in in my contact , in your contacts .
RK67Well , I think it's ridiculous .
Speaker 1Not only that and now it's sort of whatever , whatever you want to call it , whatever you want to call it .
RK67Because , I don't think you have your phone number attached to it .
LanoBut what's the bullshit that you got to go into another keyboard screen to damn hit a punctuation or a number .
RK67Well , that's I mean .
LanoI mean I don't know about that , because that's like I've grown doing that , yeah , like then you had to figure out like , yeah , your your punctuation , you got to go into another keyboard menu .
RK67So yours is like just uppercase . On Android it's uppercase and you just or how does ? How do you do a punctuation , exclamation or ?
Lanoor so . You hit the number one , two , three , and then it goes into the screen where it has the numbers , and then it has the periods , the exclamation points , the commas and semicolons .
RK67No , no , no , no , but on the Android you have everything on one screen .
LanoOh , so the key you have the late the keyboard has the letters . On the top of the letters you have the , the punctuation , and then on top you have the numbers .
RK67Also , you like hold down a letter and then it pops up , or how does it ? How do you get to the second and third stage ? Yep .
LanoYep All on one screen , nice and convenient .
MigWell , so iPhone equals mierda .
RK67Now for for you guys . I mean I've never , since I've grown up , using , you know , like clicking on on , you know , the , the second stages of keyboard or whatever . On iPhone you could download different keyboards , so you could download probably the one that you like . So that's another step .
LanoI gotta do . That's what I'm saying Like I mean I don't do it , but is that another ? Is that another step , like like you would have to download ?
RK67a different keyboard , because I know UI phone users hate doing another step .
LanoYou would have to download a different company , a different company . You guys gotta go into another step , Like it's the simplest shit you guys complain about . So I'm just following your guys' lead .
RK67But all the green bubbles , the green bubbles .
LanoWell , don't worry , man , iPhone's getting rid of that Pretty soon . You're not going to be seeing my green bubbles from my Android .
MigThey're gonna make it all across . It's such a stupid complaint you should see how many people complain about that shit , that is such a stupid complaint .
Speaker 1And then you know what ?
LanoI just enjoy it , because if it bothers you , then you know I might take you one word at a time then to get my sentence through .
RK67But I read it . It's not the Android users complaining that their bubbles are green .
LanoYou guys complain about the green bubbles and you guys complain about and then this crap . I don't know if you know this , meg . If you're in a group chat it like just having an Android in an iPhone group chat messes up the whole message board . All the pictures are messed up , they come out gritty , and all that just because the iPhone's in the group text . That's how stupid iPhone has their thing set up Too bad .
MigNo issues on the Android end .
LanoThey're like oh , you should get an iPhone so you can get my pictures and my video or whatever . Every iPhone guy that sends me a video is like it's all gritty , whatever I see kind of what's going on .
RK67It's funny . Well , I think on your phone your phone number wasn't attached to your ID , but now that I added your ID to my phone book , it knows where it's at .
MigI mean the problem with those iPhones , about the gritty video and everything is because iPhone cameras suck no no , no , they're not as good as that .
Speaker 1They're not as good as the .
LanoAndroid . But no , I just to come out clear , like , okay , so it looks like , it looks like those videos that are capturing big foot .
Speaker 1Yeah , that's what it looks like .
RK67Okay , but through Are you saying through text messages or through text messages ?
LanoAnd then if , like , what was the complaint that Mark was saying , Like in a group text you can't remove someone because the Android person's on there , or like it's like you had to start like a whole new group chat because the Android phone or Android user's messing it up or I don't know . I mean there's a lot of shit that annoys me and for this this is pretty petty , yeah .
RK67Now , when did you get your work phone ? Like what day are you ?
LanoIt was like two days ago . All right , so you're getting used to it .
RK67Once you get through the groin pains , you're going to love it . Once you have it set up properly and everything and everything's all seen .
MigYou figured it out For a phone and a product that touts being user friendly . It's not very user friendly . It's not as much as an Android man .
LanoIt's crap .
MigAndroid is turnkey , ready to rip .
LanoThe one thing is that the iPad . The iPad is good because it works fast when every other , like Samsung , tablet or whatever , it's a delay . So with that , okay , okay , and it's for the business , so I'm going to need that .
RK67But how's the ?
Migwell , no that , and back in the day the iPod . I'll give them that oh yeah , we are .
LanoYeah , the iPod , the Nano .
Speaker 1Yeah .
LanoWe rock with those Now , do you ?
RK67save files on the iPad Like , I don't know , PDF or whatever you look your job map , because now you'll be able to see it on your phone .
LanoLike they'll be synchronized and yeah , I mean that's the only reason , because I mean , james has iPhone stuff , marcos has iPhone stuff , everyone we deal with has iPhone . You know , I Apple , you're going to need the watch .
RK67Next get the watch and then maybe a laptop .
LanoNo , Mark Mark got me this kick ass Garmin watch . That's all I need . That's all I need my running watch .
RK67Then a laptop .
LanoI get my text messages here I get my phone . Check it out today . Okay , my phone and my phone .
LanoMy phone gave me the weather and then told me the sunrise , the sundown . I didn't respond to the thing . I hit my steps already , my heart rates at 72 . My body batteries at 16 right now . So I need to go get some rest . I slept . I slept six hours , 45 minutes notifications , my texts , my emails , and then it tells me good morning . And then it will tell me like a little message , little inspired message You're ready to take on the day .
RK67You can only receive texts or you can respond to them .
LanoNo , I can only receive them . I can see what I got , but that's .
RK67I mean that's a big help because I mean just knowing like if it's important or not important like a text , like looking at something .
LanoYeah , because I see it right here I can read the text . I mean like , if I then I forgot to reply to it , then you get my phone . And I'm fine with doing that extra step . It doesn't bother me . I'm just complaining about the keyboard , because you guys complain about everything , so I might as well like complain about it , you know now , Miki , you have a newer car , right ?
RK67Does your car have carplay or Android for the car or whatever Apple carplay or Android ?
MigNo , it'll be like we're next to the radio and all that stuff , or no , my Bluetooth .
RK67Well , there's some like where the screen changes , like the maps and all that stuff .
LanoWell being a . You know , I don't know I would display like that oh yeah , it's like the new motorcycles , they'll have like a . Well , you can download whatever you use , right ? Yeah , you should be Android mobile or Apple carplay yeah , depending what you use , and you can use it with them .
RK67I've never had it , and the car we have now doesn't support that either .
LanoBut you know . You know one thing with the the they complain about the iPhones being on like Harley's whole months . The rumble of the Hardy Harley . Yeah that kind of messes up the iPhone . I don't know . I don't know if it's still true , but what ? Do you mean , I was seeing a lot of people say that , like just to shaking it , the shake of it , because Harley's have a good rumble to it .
RK67Like but how is it like ruining the phone , or what was it doing ?
RK67I guess just the vibration messes up the phone I recently saw a YouTube video where like those is like rumor or whatever , and the guy tested it out , it was like Janet Jackson Rhythm Nation , that the baseline was like showing off like laptops like and if you had a hard drive , like somehow that the baseline match the same frequency of the hard drive , where the computer would just like crap out . Oh , they're like they would bring laptops like they'll play that song and bring laptops like next to it .
Speaker 1Yeah .
RK67And then like it just like shut off , like like , and they'll be like like bricked because , like the hard drive will just like break , like it matches the frequency that the thing is like the hard drive is like recording . So they tested it and they had like a whole room like a bunch of laptops and they're playing like on speakers really love , and then all the laptop screens just go off .
LanoIs that every laptop ? Any kind of brand-line laptop ?
RK67Anything that has to you know now , like new hard drives are like SSD , which is solid state . It's the old hard drives , old hard drives where , like record data , like a record , so the old , not so like the old ones of it's not like an SSD drive . Ssd is like some kind of like memory sticks that the youth so , like the older laptops , so just be careful when you're playing um rhythm nation . I was tempted to try to play it , but then I got it on the mess with my computer .
RK67I did , but then I was like well , my computer is solid state , so like it wouldn't be a problem . But just , it was a YouTube video . I saw it . It was kind of crazy .
LanoHe wants to be one of those , he wants to be part of the dam . What do they call them ? The bussers guys , the , the guys that test out shit . Oh , the myth , myth bussers .
RK67So I want to get on you , because I put up the um , I put up the , the Christmas sweater . You didn't even buy it .
LanoI told you I had it , I kept trying to buy it and then when did you put it up ?
RK67Last show . I put it up . Oh did you ? I didn't know , I didn't know you're going to do it . I had told you I was like I'm putting it up .
LanoBut you say a lot of stuff that you say and then you don't do it . Well , I did it .
RK67That night so you could buy it . So it's out Well , yeah , I mean I'm going to put it away now because it's like already a week after Christmas . But that was a limited drop , merch drop Right now . Right now Merch drop no way . So I wanted to get this out early , because now that it's getting cold , can you put a ?
Lanocan you put one ? One more night with a sweater , I'll leave it .
RK67Okay , one more night , because when I release this the new , I'm calling this the winter hoodie . But when can I buy it ? You can buy it right now , until tomorrow , until Thursday . Then I'm taking away .
Winter Sport Hoodies and Casino Stories
RK67But these are the new , I'm calling these the winter hoodies . So four new designs that was pretty cool .
MigThese are the hoodies .
RK67This is the baseball edition Because it's the local , local baseball teams .
Speaker 1Yeah .
RK67I got the the soccer edition .
LanoGood deal , dude .
RK67So this is the soccer edition . Oh , how yeah Very nice , black and gold , black and gold . And then we got the football edition . So these are the winter sports hoodies I call it black the Royal Sports hoodie . So the football edition . And it's only hoodies , only no shirt , just hoodies .
LanoOnly hoodies .
RK67Okay , cool , and then . So these are . These are going to be out Thursday . You know something the first 48 hours are always so .
LanoI'll say that the last ones are UCLA , yeah .
RK67I just put it just for the fans out there . So four new , I guess four new colorway of sweat hoodies to get just in time for winter . And then I got some other ideas .
LanoI'll come here and do like a liquor color for the basketball fans .
RK67Because the hoodies . They didn't have a purple or yellow hoodie .
LanoThat was good .
RK67Well , they only had like black , blue , red oh okay . So I mean I was doing something quick with my limited time . So these were the colors .
LanoAll right , so I guess I'll get my maybe I'll have a Laker one ready .
RK67I got a . Maybe I can do the like purple and gold or something like that .
LanoWhy don't you do like old school and just the blue one with the white ? Take it back to the where they came from .
RK67Well , I mean , then you could get the . The baseball one will be the same oh yeah , you're right . So , these these designs will be out Thursday and it's the first 48 hours . They're on special , so I'm gonna wait , really so , and then to see this is still out there . All right , so I'm gonna get that one get it , cuz I'm gonna don't wait till Thursday , cuz I'm gonna take it down .
LanoOkay .
RK67Get it or so emerged up just in time for summer . And then I have some other stuff in the pipeline that I'm working on . Me you actually caught me working on these last last week when you walked in and I had a hide it did why walk ? You walked in , I was working , I had like turned the computer off at the screen . I'll be dead in , but we still got our degenerate bear shirts . Meaghan's got another story for that too . We got the jackpot shirt . Anybody go into casinos ?
MigGo look see those people , they're giving money away .
LanoI sure you know what . I think mark was tired of hearing your casino stories .
MigHow many have I told ?
LanoI mean , there's one story dedicated to it and Then , um , maybe a couple times . Yeah , we just mentioned it . We just mentioned your quick hits .
RK67Yeah , so um another quick hit . How much did you win this past weekend ?
MigA little bit , since mark doesn't want to hear about it . Yeah , he doesn't have to .
RK67What was that it ?
Migwas a nice little chunk of change the gross .
RK67And then what'd you ? Walk home with a . A little bit less and what's what's going on you ? Have you talked to mark . When's the last thing you saw mark ?
LanoUm Christmas because he hasn't he hasn't been on the line , so yeah , I don't even know if he's well , he was , uh , he was out of town . You weren't on vacation to Mexico City , no , I don't know , how long he was over there , though . He was over there for over the weekend . Um , I talked to him . I've talked to him , but I haven't seen him since um , since christmas .
RK67But um , he and then by then too .
LanoWho knows ? You know we didn't do those two shows before the year end .
MigYeah .
LanoWe've done two Since , since it too great I think this is their second , one or third one . I think there's a third one , yeah .
RK67Uh-huh Three on this year so who knows , maybe um but um calling . I thought what we're gonna get , um comments on the blue beetle . We had a big week in terms of listeners last week , but but the hotline is 323 207 0012 but calling . And then I'm still curious about mark , if you saw that batman or not . Yeah , he never he hasn't replied , and he's supposed to be the the batman guru .
LanoI mean , I want to hear feedback from that blue beetle from people and see who who liked it , or no , why they liked it .
RK67And I thought your , your nephews and stuff , we're gonna call in about that because they're , they're big um comic people . Yeah , what the blue be what . But you know we had a spike in listeners last week , so I think people are , like you said , are getting over catching up , the holidays starting , catch up and they probably saw that two mid shows are like all right , these guys probably yeah because , I barely finished like listening to last week show , last night or yesterday . Like we didn't even have time to get it to watch it .
MigOh , really quick . Since we're on the topic of a blue beetle and dc comic movies and everything , another one . I want to bring up that I was just watching over the weekend . That was really good both , both of them . Um , it's called red , red and red too with Bruce Willis red . How , that's an old movie they're . They're older , yeah , but those are really good . I think they're like graphic novels from dc , like a spy kind of a cia , you know , like with some comedy thrown in there .
RK67Red . I guess the first one was 2010 .
Speaker 1Yeah .
MigYeah , those were really well done . So the DC comic movies , I recommend that one . There are those two actually you guys haven't seen them .
RK67Hmm , and when you say dc , it's the dc , but it's it's , I don't know . It's connected with those like that universe , right , just like standalone .
MigNo , I don't mean , they're just dc , uh , comics , comics Okay .
Discussing Movies and Streaming Services
RK67Where'd you watch it at ? With um streaming service .
MigI think I just watched it on uh on a rotation on cable Okay .
RK67I have to look for it .
LanoI did see um I don't know if you saw it . I started watching one pair but I fell asleep .
RK67It's . It's a long , but well , how far did you get , hmm ?
LanoNo , I didn't even get that far .
RK67All right , so you're still early . Yeah , no , no keys . Huh , no keys , okay you know they were .
LanoHey , it was like burly setting up the story where I think the very first five minutes he talked about his friend that he never met before and H . Yeah , h with an , a right like spelled with it , it's like he was like yeah , he was out fighting , dude , they're collecting coins and yeah .
RK67That's kind of crazy . Huh , like , like , because these coins are like their lives , like , so they get , they start all over , like if they lose them . So like people risk them and some people don't risk them . Right , that's what's funny about the beginning .
MigYou know it's like people get so um , so into it , so involved . Is this like when they show the that , the building of the ?
Speaker 1no , that that one in the beginning .
MigThey show that building photo the Asian . Other the Asian businessman and the dude loses and he gets all pissed off . He starts bringing out the desk and he's about to jump out the window and they catch him . It saves them , no , they catch them it saves them , stop them . Did you get to that part ?
LanoNo , I didn't get that . You're in the first five minutes , yeah .
MigI know , dude , you fell asleep right away .
RK67You're in the first five minutes , but uh , I guess I wasn't sure if you're ready to talk about it . I don't know if you saw , but I did see that . Um , um , no , left behind , was that when you told me ?
Lanooh , yeah , yeah Um the world left . Yeah , yeah , did you , guys you see me . I didn't , you didn't see it . You saw a lot of yeah . Do you know what I was talking about ?
RK67Uh , was it about credits at the beginning ?
LanoNo .
RK67Because I know it was like executive producer was Obama . No no , is it the ? Um ? I didn't even know that , friends .
LanoNo , what did you ?
RK67well , he means gonna , I know what was it that you said Something he had a pit peeve or something he didn't like about it ?
Speaker 1Oh .
RK67And I don't want to , I don't want to . Was it like friends . No , let's say come no okay . Then I don't know what it is then .
LanoLet's see how I can say I watch it this week .
RK67All right , oh wait . Well , I guess we'll wait . Then We'll wait Um .
LanoYou know , um , okay , all right , maybe I can say it .
RK67Well , bothered me was the music . Is that what you had to say ? No , okay , because it was trying to create like situations that were like not there . You know , like if I'm just watching it , mute it , which I wasn't like it'd be just like whatever . But the music was trying to make like suspense that I don't know , suspense to me , but I guess we'll let miggy . Yeah , I guess maybe I'll talk a little bit off air about but yeah , watch it . Um , I want to say it's about it like I guess you didn't catch .
LanoYou didn't catch what I Would I .
RK67I don't think so .
LanoDisliked about the movie .
RK67I mean , there's some stuff in my head but I just don't want to talk about it because me hasn't seen yeah , yeah . So we'll wait . But , um , leave the world behind . I saw it . Um , ricks are . We're just waiting for miggy to see it . So everybody catch up and , and let's see , we'll have to call in if you think you know ricks talking about , and we'll play the phone calls before we review it yeah but um , I thought it was that movie was recommended by mark .
RK67I thought it was okay , I've seen um better , yeah , and there's another one that I want to see . That that um , it popped up in my feed .
LanoWhat is it called ? But ?
RK67it looks similar awake . Awake , awake because it had like the same , like , kind of like , oh no , like story because I saw another movie .
LanoWe saw another movie too this past weekend , and that was same thing where there something happened to the , to the , to the planet . Some radiation got let out , but there was this one farm that was , I guess , kind of low in the valley where the radiation didn't get to , and and this one girl that was there by herself , her , her , her , I think , her dad and her one of her brothers left to go find survivors , and it was just a whole other thing where this chick's living by herself , Well , awake was netflix 2021 .
RK67Um , it has um that girl from um , gina Rodriguez , but it says um after a devastating global event wiped out all the electronics and limited people's ability to sleep . They're just speaking to a former soldier may have found a solution with their daughter .
Speaker 1So this is kind of like the same was the other .
MigThat's why I saw .
RK67I saw that and this popped up .
MigThat's the main thing right now is apocalyptic freaking movies man , where you're getting back to basics and you're getting back to survival skills .
LanoHold them this , hold them All these damn movies and everything Hollywood , whatever They've gotten . So freaking lazy man , yeah , so damn lazy like .
MigThat's why a lot of times I don't even bother with new movies , I just watch all my favorite old ones . It's like never get tired of them Indiana Jones , I guess .
LanoI guess it's good , because you don't want to like that all this stuff's coming out on streaming on streaming services . I mean , I'd be pissed if I go see these movies and I go to a movie theater . Get up , get my ass up to go over to move theater , go watch crap like this .
RK67I'll drop like 50 bucks or whatever , and I guess well , now , like the movie theater it's supposed to be , like there's supposed to be crap coming out because of that strike . You know , there's like a strike for like .
LanoI think it was a year or six months or something . But like it .
RK67Writers the writer strikes , so delayed everything . So they said we're not gonna see anything good for like a couple years or a year from now , from from everywhere , they said whatever .
LanoYeah , I mean the scripts . There's a bunch of scripts out there like what is that ? Well , I mean , yeah , there's the scripts , but they can't .
RK67They can't use them until , like that , strike was done .
LanoNow that it's it's ready , that should be right . You know shouldn't miss a beat , it should just get going on it . But when ?
RK67when did you watch ready player or did you start ready player one ? It was on sunday , I think . Okay , so yeah , sunday .
Discussion on Mexican Boxer Salvador Sanchez
RK67There is one gripe that I have . I like the movie , but there's one gripe with it that I do that I told my wife , but , um , it's not a big deal , but just there's one little thing . I have it but like it's a typical Spielberg movie which is to me just a good , like you know kid , like popcorn movie , like Spielberg knows the formula and he's gonna do it like every single time , so it's a good , good movie .
RK67That doesn't fly with me , you're not a I mean Spielberg to me . I mean I grew up with Spielberg . He's gonna I mean I wish we could go back to the 80s and watch .
LanoThe original movies . Did you guys , did you guys , um , did you guys see that stuff that I sent you ? Yeah yeah , you saw it . Yeah so Before even seeing that , I mean I've been watching a lot of them . Highlights of this dude . Yeah um , who did you guys think the best Mexican boxer was ? Because growing up I mean when I saw that growing up it was like damn , boxing was like a big part of us growing up too . Yeah , because of those .
RK67You're so , so chavis . Yeah , that's what I was gonna say , chavis .
LanoThe best Mexican fighter , best best , yeah , hands down .
RK67In our . I mean I say yeah , because because I started watch .
LanoYeah , when I see some highlights of Chavez , like yeah , I mean that dude was a mean pit bull .
RK67I saw it like every fight at the Madoga's house . We watched like it's crazy like who knows ?
LanoOkay , so the reason I'm bringing it up , people , because , um , I came across a clip . Well , my Tyson and Roy Jones Jr and they . It was like a question of who was the mix best Mexican fighter , the next best .
RK67No , the best who was ?
Lanoyeah , who was the the best Mexican fighter ? And Roy Jones , actually , I said like all around fighter and these are old interviews .
MigYeah , these are old interviews .
LanoRoy Jones . Roy Jones said Um , this guy by the name of Salvador Sanchez . He was a boxer like in the late 70s , early 80s , early 80s , and then also too , like my Tyson . My Tyson talked about him too and it was funny because we're Roy Jones . When they asked Roy Jones , they're like well , once he mentioned Salvador Sanchez , they're like who's that ? He was like yeah , because you don't know who that is because you're not a interviewer , right ?
LanoYeah , the interviewer because , like you're not a , you're not . You're not a student of the game , you're not a student of a game like . I am yeah and then and then even Tyson was says even he said him , you know , talked about him like was out of those Sanchez and like Growing up , before I even looked them up I was like dude is like , he was nowhere around the radar .
RK67So you didn't know who he was .
LanoNo , I didn't know who he was Up inside . I started looking up videos of him and man dude , the way , the way his style of fighting , the way he would do this , this little dip . To set up that that nasty Slippery hook , oh man . And then so he . I mean he passed away young , but man , I go as probably why we never . He was barely going like you know , man , didn't you know them ?
MigHe did , I was . I was gonna ask him , dude , if he knew you know about the , you know the ? That they had asked the rate Roy Jones and my tennis was the greatest Mexican boxer . He told me that , yes , other Sanchez , how did you know that ? Like he's seen that .
RK67No one's ever bought him up or anything like I , but he knew him , or did he see that interview ?
MigI don't , I've never , talked to him about it , yeah .
LanoThe whole time growing up is like it was never on my radar .
RK67I've never heard of him before .
LanoI mean , you hear , you hear of the , of the these old , these old , old boxers , of course you know . Did they say who his trainer was ?
Speaker 1Ah , because something like trainers have like been .
LanoNow the crazy thing is like wherever , where , where , where he grew up , I mean what you guys saw it , but just to let the people know , like where he grew up is his . His conditioning was just out of his world .
MigAnd that's why all these boxers do high altitude training .
LanoNow Was partly because he , he , him . He grew up a mile and a half above sea level , where he was run like 10 miles Every day .
MigWell , he grew up in Mexico City . In Mexico City is a high altitude city so . If you , if you guys , ever go visit there and you try to climb those pyramids , you better be in good shape , because you're gonna get up about a quarter of the way .
LanoYou're gonna be out of breath , yeah and , and it's crazy , and this , and this is when damn boxing was 15 rounds . Yeah , and it was and as they say , that that he was notoriously slow starter .
MigYeah but because he didn't care that he would love going to 15 , because by the time you get to like round 10 , that , yeah , it's already dying out . It was that I'm switching switching into the next gear .
LanoThe before he fought Will Fredo go yeah that dude on the one la porte yeah or the portal .
Speaker 1What's like ?
Lanothat Do ? You saw the way he came on swinging . Yeah , dude , like dude . This dude's not gonna be able to keep up like he was . And it wasn't like a wild man , just swing like the dude .
MigAnd then the thing was kind of , the thing is also accurate , his defense was so good . Yeah , he would slip those punches so much . You look at the fights and you see his opponents faces all beat up .
LanoYeah , and him no , nothing Dude , I think that was one of the things to us on the video not a mark .
MigYou know , I was like , like slip with the punches . Yeah , where he was , it was incredible that ability that he had to , like you know , just like see the punch coming and he's like he'd kind of go with it and yeah , yeah , he had those , those short little counters , you know , and yeah , it went 15 , right or no ?
Speaker 1Yeah .
RK67Like .
LanoAnd then the like I guess this was so that guy with Fredo Gomez the poor or Puerto . Rican fighter , he had knocked out already a couple of Mexicans , and so you know the two crowds , you know two people , you know pulling for the fighters like they were just waiting for the next Mexican fighter to manage , and that was Sanchez and man . I even even that even that fight was like it was . It's just nice , man , seeing those old fights seen , seen the , the technique , the whole science , like the science of boxing , like man .
RK67Now , looking at his record , the guy you recognize there is woman Nelson , I think Travis bottom . Let's look like it was his last fight , yeah .
Speaker 1I think , I think after .
LanoSo that was a big fight was with with Fredo Gomez , like for a belt . I mean I don't know about but the rivalry they said he fought with three fights . It was three fights after that fight and then that's when he passed away in a car crash .
RK67And then look , it says he fought on Trinidad senior the dad .
LanoThat's nuts dude , and I mean because he died so young . That's that's part I never you know and it's a 22 23 .
RK67So that's Like pre-prime right .
LanoLike you say , they came , he started at 16 .
MigYeah , he was really young . He turned pro at 16 .
Speaker 1I think so yeah .
RK67No , but like , let's say 25 , 24 , like you start like Using your knowledge , or I mean I know he was already gifted and skillful . Yeah but like I think that's like pre-prime , like he was gonna .
LanoYeah , you're pre-prime . Yeah , yeah , yeah , 22 , yeah , 22 , 23 . It was just like man . I was like I Was so happy , like once I started seeing his highlights and his fights I was like , oh , man , and then just the story of it . Man , the way they did , the way that the channel tells a story , it's this is like nice . Yeah , it was kind of documentaries like it . They have like the documentary of course that would be .
MigThat would be a good movie for them to make . Yeah , yeah , if they want to do like a good boxing story . That would be a good one to make , yeah right , no one's told it .
LanoYeah , that was , that was .
RK67That is a good , a good idea , you know the day you sent me the text I had just been watching those on Netflix , the George foreman story , those on the it's called big George foreman or whatever that channel , that YouTube channel , yeah , I guess it covers all those little you know .
LanoI mean , because it has that oil and Trinidad and then that whole rivalry . I'm Chavez and party come on show . Okay , you know it has whatever you know . Like that was like the start of the Mexican and the Puerto Rican rivalry .
RK67And it was only them to like Miguel Cotto and stuff on like today . Well , I know Miguel's not today , but Towards late boxing . I mean , I know who Miguel Cotto is .
LanoYeah , it was just , it was just . It was just cool , a cool , a cool finding . Then just watching the how , how Bad ass his dude was there .
MigI gotta watch Marvin's fights , cuz I keep on my YouTube feed . It keeps coming up like . Marvin's fights come up .
Speaker 1Yeah , and I haven't said I watched a little because they're they're long clips .
MigYeah , you know , I'm .
RK67Sorry , like when I get home Was 18 minutes .
LanoBut they're so worth it . But you know what I noticed ?
RK67that 18 minute one , the one that showed a lot of his fights was like , once he found that opening , that punch , like he just kept using it . Yeah like over and like the same punch over and over , and then you see the guy's face is game be ?
Lanolike Because I know that that dip he would do . He's just like like kind of like it's investigating what they're gonna , the reaction of it .
Speaker 1Yeah , how is he ?
Lanogonna slip in the damn and do once . He started like going man with his jabs , jabs , hooks , uppercuts . It's like man . Those uppercups were like nasty he's like it's just solid dude man it was . I mean it was a nice find I was . I was glad I came across and it was all from a short clip . It was all from a short clip that I just barely like glance pass and it just said Best Mexican fighter . It had Tyson under my god . I see what he says you're gonna say now that things are or canelo it was like one 22 .
RK67That's why you know .
LanoYeah .
RK67But when he came , out with sorrow .
LanoThose , I just miss out , those Sanchez was , how's that ? And then , and that same clip is so Roy Jones Jr . Yeah , he was all . You don't know who he is because you're not student of the game like I am like , oh man , that's why I started looking him up and yeah , I do it's like . I mean , I think he probably would have been the greatest man probably so he was like , like or yeah , like what is it ?
RK67I'm sugar a liner and stuff like Holmes , like he was too small in that .
MigI mean , he probably would have definitely .
LanoWas on his way up , he probably wouldn't moved up , yeah .
MigThat would have been a fight cuz one 22 .
RK67I mean , I think I was in one 22 .
LanoYeah , cuz , even even watching clips of Chavez man , those damn combinations he would come and then work that body in body shots man so beautiful man , so beautiful , so beautiful now I Mean I kind of stop watching box boxing just cuz like I .
RK67So I used to watch it like at someone's house all the time , like I never bought the pay-per-views . Yeah but like canelo was coming up , I think I saw canelo at your house like when he was barely coming up . Do you guys still watch canelo today ?
LanoNo , no , no , last fight , last fight . I did I , I got it . Who do you fight ? It was more , I told . I told Vanessa let's go , let's go to her grandparents . Yeah it's just , you know , cuz I had the fire stick , let's just watch the fight over there . Yeah , just to , just to get together , you know .
MigI don't . I don't watch that salad anymore , cuz you guys . He pissed me off .
RK67Oh , he did like what's the ?
LanoHe's not taking any tough fights .
MigI mean whether or what he lost against me . That's only what fight is lost . Oh , but .
LanoBut I Mean , I don't know , I mean co-caid Deloria Saying that he's dodging a lot of the tough fights , and I think he came out too that he doesn't , he doesn't want to take on tough fights , he just , you know , he's Once to dominate , make his money .
RK67Well , that's think when I saw him , maybe at your house , like he was an undercard maybe .
LanoBut that was probably when you first , yeah .
RK67I mean .
MigAbout 10 years ago .
RK67Yeah , well , what fight was that ?
Controversy Surrounding Canelo's Fighting Style
MigNo , it's probably carnaelo , because I'm thinking that it was kind of before he fought me whether , yeah , way before you found me , you know because no , he was barely coming up .
LanoYeah , and I was so many he has so many fights on it already been at a young age .
RK67Yeah cuz I think the last time I saw your house was Deloria and the kid from oxen . I wasn't him Vargas , vargas and he was like .
LanoAnd he was like on the undercard .
RK67That's what I'm saying , like he was on the undercard .
LanoYeah , yeah , well .
RK67I think he was on the Quarter during that fight . No , he was like that's way before canelo do .
MigCanelo was probably them Little kid running around .
RK67There , cuz I'm ever seen canelo like on undercards . He wasn't the main event yet and I think that's the last fight I seen a yeah , no , we started watching canelo .
MigHe was maybe like 17 18 years old and he went pro . He was really young .
Speaker 1Yeah .
RK67Now that probably already had a lot of that may weather fight and canelo like you saw it , like he looked , like he threw it or what yeah , he held punches .
MigHe pulled punches . Oh no , he .
LanoWhy ? I guess he did . Yeah , I guess he just he just changed his whole fighting style . Dude , the way , the way we saw him fighting coming out is gonna like dude , he's gonna destroy me whether and he changed his whole fighting style . Why he did it . I don't know why , but I mean you know why , but man he got paid . Yeah , he got paid , he got paid good , he got paid good .
MigIt just made , no sense .
LanoNo sense is like you're . You're fighting this , this , this way , since you came out All of a sudden , you're fighting may weather and you change your style of fighting is like and then , after you , go back to the way you fought before .
RK67Yeah , of course .
LanoYeah , or you go back to the way you did before , but then you don't take To fights see , but that that's a thing to fight .
MigIt's like he , in my opinion , he sold out to me weather . Let me whether keep his perfect record intact , you know , and and in addition to all the money they they got in that fight , may weather also passes a torch of owning Vegas , because all of his fights afterwards were in Vegas and with all those judges and everything in his pocket .
MigKeep it going , I'll be back you know , with all , with all those judges , everything in his pocket , it's just made for , you know , for a canelo to keep . You know , I Guess build his legacy , and I do that in big air quotes . You know , I'm just I don't know , dude , I just . It just really upset me so much that he did that , you know , because this kid could have been the greatest fighter out of Mexico , you know . But I'm tight watching that fight , dude . I seen him where he had openings , where he could have just dropped a hammer on Mayweather , where he had him , and he didn't pull the trigger . And it drove me insane and I didn't want to believe it . But the reason I say that that happened is Is because how is it that , as a new manager , a promoter , de la Joya , the biggest fight of his young promotional career , canela de la Joya , de la Joya , and he disappears the week before ? Right , how do you disappear the week before when it's the biggest thing you've ever promoted ?
RK67So , with that when that happened , well , what was the reason that we find out , or no , he just disappeared , like he just disappeared , and went on a bender .
MigYou know , and so you know probably he didn't want nothing to do with the , with the sellout .
RK67You know he probably didn't want the he knew about it and then like I think so .
MigI think so . And you know , it's like he didn't want no part of it , so he just disappeared .
Reflections on Boxing and Canelo
MigAnd what's that happened ? I was like huh , I'm like how the hell you disappeared . This is like the biggest thing that your promotional company is ever going to do . And he just disappeared , nowhere to be found . I'm like , nah , something's up , something's up , canela .
RK67Canelo , he's been on top . What did you say ? You ?
Lanosay 10 years since me with it .
RK67Oh yeah , I guess , yeah , In your mind . Like is he bigger than Chavez ?
Speaker 1No , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no no no no no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no , no no no , no , no , dear , dear , dear , dear .
MigNo , dear dear , dear dear my friends , youкой , my people don't tell us , he's just belongs to my superiors .
RK67confession to my great-grand launcher .
MigIt appears to me that he's best of the kind a sk allocated to the idea of that— Well , listen , if you make some noise , I'm like M stages , I'm going with this guy for a very short while Damn hardboxer coming out of Mexico that we're gonna be able to root for it . And I was all in on them , dude . And when they first wanted him to fight Mayweather , I was like no , he still needs more experience . It was like he still needs like another year or two before he can step up to that type of a fight . And they did wait .
LanoYeah , because that didn't make sense , because he wasn't experienced enough to fight Mayweather .
MigYeah .
RK67At the time he fought him he wasn't ready yet .
MigSo you're gonna do it because he wanted to get paid he would have been too much of a brawler , and Mayweather would have toyed with them .
LanoSo , and then Mina , as young as he is . So why ? Why he wanted to get paid . So he takes the fight . It's simple as that .
RK67And that's Mayweather's strategy too . I gotta take him young before he gets paid or whatever when .
Lanoif it was really him about his boxing career and the love for it and wanting to get to fight to our no , he should have been like I'm on the way to . Who cares ? Who cares if Mayweather's getting old ? If you don't get to fight him , you don't get to fight him . It's just you're inexperienced . Why are you gonna do it ? So he was right .
MigHe could have taken him in that fight . He could have taken him .
LanoI mean , there's only one son out . Only one son out , I accept .
RK67Who's that you ?
Lanoknow who Mickey knows .
MigI know , I know , but it's not coming to my mind right now .
LanoDude , you were telling me about him the other day . You're watching a bunch of clips about him .
RK67A boxer .
LanoOh , he's not a son out .
MigHe's just a clown .
LanoNo man , what was that fight with that ? The one where he got knocked down and he winked at the damn camera , camacho .
MigNo , Deloia Malameo .
LanoHe was like he winked at the camera . He's like he got bought man . He's a son out dude , he's a clown , but he's , you know , he's a son out he's fun to watch .
MigLittle bad , but that guy he's so fun to watch . He fought .
RK67Delahoya , I remember watching that , like it was on channel 13 or something like at the yeah .
LanoHe fucking took the camera .
RK67He got knocked down and he winked .
LanoHe got took a yeah , he winked at the camera .
RK67Oh , I gotta watch the night .
LanoThat's because they were pushing fucking Delahoya .
MigYeah .
LanoBut I mean , it's like Mick said we were talking about it the other day . It's like this dude was so damn good If he were just taking his shit serious . Yeah , but you know he wanted to be a more of a showman .
MigSo you know I never . I never watched that Delahoya special that came out .
LanoI mean either I haven't watched it , I mean either Max , it's on Max .
Speaker 1Yeah , we're going to watch it .
MigI gotta watch that .
LanoWe were supposed to talk about it .
MigYou never bought up against the reason why he gave us his password for ? So we can watch it we never did yeah .
LanoAnd I just wasn't in a rush to see Delahoya and fish yeah .
RK67But I think he talks about disappearing , but I don't remember what was the the canela fight .
LanoYeah , and then mostly had to be back in the movies like no , that was not gay , just he was hanging around the wrong people . Like well , I don't know , he's become a mean clown right now , man .
RK67Well , he's still promoting , right ? Yeah , you know , like his rockers . I thought he still kept fighting , like when I thought he retired . I thought he retired after . Delahoya the Filipino name Pacquiao . I thought after that he done , but he still came back and fought a couple , or maybe that was the sugar .
LanoHe came back and fought his he was fighting with his , with his fake six pack , pain it .
RK67Pain his six pack .
LanoYeah , and implants put in . Is that what they do ? Implants ? He had implants put in the food too , so you can have a six pack .
RK67I thought it looked like . I thought it was like sprayed on or carved , sculpted . He looks , he looks weird man .
LanoHe looks weird man . I mean , well , it's cool about going back and watching Salvador Sanchez . It just reminded me of all those damn amazing fights we saw growing up Just all around man with with Carbohol , carbohol .
MigYeah , the , the Barrera brothers , the Barrera brothers , damn Brayla's brothers Brayla's brothers .
RK67Brayla's . Um , there's something like white top ring right or something some guy like he would always bring , like like his , his group of people coming up . But it was like I mean , I used to always see all the fights , the child's fights , at the Mendoza's house , but it was like , were they every three months or what was it ? By the time ? We would always go over there like we watch it .
Speaker 1Like I can't say that .
MigI saw Tyson fights like that , because Tyson fight , like the big Mexican fights , would either be on sequel to my or um September right September 16th around . September , mid September .
RK67But I remember like always watching it and I don't know like do people get around and watch Canelo fight Like ?
Lanowere you guys .
RK67You said you're still throwing parties or gatherings .
LanoAnd we only had one fight of this Cause .
RK67Then he switched to like days on it and then it became hard to get Like you couldn't get all the papers or something like that , they did their own . Get the order of the subscription .
MigAt that point I didn't really care anymore because I didn't care . After the Mayweather fight I just threw my hands up and I'm like I'm done with boxing Done .
Speaker 1And I did .
Migthis shit is so corrupted , it's so fake and I think , we all had that . Bought it and paid for it .
RK67I think we all had that moment where we're just like this is just like you know whoever pays for the more money or whatever . Yeah , we don't watch . It Is um . Do you guys know anything about boxing today besides Canelo Heavyweight champ or not ? Not really , I don't know , not like the old days , man .
LanoWell , you know everybody . You know everybody was fighting who you love to watch . Fucking love watching Johnny Tapia . He was bad .
Nostalgia for Boxing's Golden Era
RK67Yeah , and all those guys like Asuma Nelson , like you knew his style , you knew Trinidad style . You knew , like all the guys like , oh , this guy's good , he's crafty , he's a left handed guy or whatever this , like all those names were . Like it was all like well known , like legends . It's like you know . Like in the NBA , whenever , like the Lakers were placed on , you knew who that team . You knew like it was like Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics . You knew , like like Patrick Ewing in the New York Knicks . Now , like there's not like big stars , like because everybody's buddy buddy .
LanoThey want to get together and play with each other , because now they all with their best friend .
RK67They all play like I mean , it's all like , like what they say , tomato cans and then there's only like one big super for like they don't fight each other like the way the other guys used to take turns fighting each other . A right , a good rivalry . Yeah , like I know , the big Canelo was that triple G or whatever .
LanoThat last fight was a joke . Oh , that's what it was , I think triple G fight . That's why that's why .
MigThat was a joke , though , but the last good rivalry fight then , wasn't it Koto and someone else ? Oh , it wasn't Delajoy , you know .
RK67No , no , no , it was a Koto and he lost right and I think that's when I thought that he was they had three fights . Yeah .
MigOh who's ? The other boxer .
RK67When I thought that's where those were . Like I just said , this is like fake . Um , most knows it was a mostly know , was a mostly pack . Yeah no , my yoga , yeah my yoga .
Speaker 1My yoga , my yoga , my yoga yeah .
RK67I think it's my yoga , but this is my yoga one . We got Koto my yoga .
MigGot it . Oh yeah , Koto and Gotti , those two dudes went out and I think big time like three fights .
RK67I'm looking .
MigAnd I think the second one was like really controversial , the decision that came out of it .
LanoYeah , I think you're right .
RK67Um . I don't see Gotti on here .
LanoWas there three fights with my my ?
RK67or just one .
LanoI remember the one in the end . Maybe it was Gotti and someone else .
MigMaybe it was Gotti and someone else , and pay per view .
RK67Um , maybe we're there , my yoga . I don't know who that is . Martinez Canelo Judah . Um , remember , those are Gotti , were like what was his name ? Miguel Gotti or was .
MigGotti's first name , antonio no .
RK67I don't remember it was like some white guy that he would fight , right , I Don't know , I can't find it , but it was like some , some mean like fights . We're like like where they would just be swinging like both of them are in our like could barely stand up in Battles . Now what ? Watching those Salvador Sanchez fights the 15 rounds . I know they agree , they agree to like boxing . It's not like a set standard , right , they have to agree to the the rounds , yeah , the ring size , and then Like the glove weight and all that stuff in the wake , because , like runners , like a bigger ring and then like punches one , a smaller ring or whatever all that stuff .
RK67Are you disappointed they moved from the 15 to the 12 ? Because I know , I mean , I know it's saving lives , but I just feel like 12 is like there's too many , like draws or undecided .
LanoYou think , wow , it kind of doesn't push them for their .
MigTourgadi .
LanoOur tourgadi . I mean now I would , I would , I mean I would like 15 , just because I want 15 rounds of fight , you know , I mean , I mean 15 rounds just people like , like zombies , you know , like just punching .
RK67Oh , mickey Ward and Goddy , I think that with those , those three , I'm a Goddy like . These are like Goddy made the the problem with that .
LanoWith the 15 rounds like today , I think there'll be a lot of like boring first rounds .
MigYeah , well , you think it would delay ?
LanoYeah , you get a lot of more bullshit rounds , but then to have , might have been the reason why they went to 12 .
RK67Nobody see the Hagler herds or her and sugar you know , I know , but they were , they were local 15 . You know , like one guy's just like tips over like cuz , like so long I know safety reasons they move it to 12 rounds because like people were like dying in the ring and stuff .
MigWe had it because of the whole . I Guess afterwards a CT shit .
RK67Yeah , yeah , they're taking pounding , yeah , but I just think like this too much .
LanoIt's late rounds , when you can't even pick up their arms , and there's too many draws again .
RK67You know you could , like you know , hide around for six rounds and and like not the score . Now are you more of a like , a , not a brawler , but like a puncher or like a boxer , like I'm in the middle dude Like yeah it's like it's gotta be a mix of both .
MigYou know cuz yeah . You don't want a guy just to go out there swinging wildly and you know , it's like you want you want a guy to be measured . You know you want to find openings , you want to create openings . You know you want to see those three , four punch combos . You know where there's maybe like Two left hooks to the body and then when the dude brings like his arm down , then you know you hit him with an uppercut and you know it's like it's like you want to see that , you know .
LanoIt's like , yeah , a brawl here and there in the round , whatever you get a good exchange bound . Oh , but just to be like , I Mean I I would enjoy it , but I just like .
MigIt's like going going back to sell their sanctions , the way he slips those punches and air to the counters .
LanoYou know , and then you get kind of like an exchange , yeah , where you know it's back and forth , back and forth , and then it goes back to like what , what I hated , and what they credit them for and Say he's the greatest ever because of it may was Mayweather because his ability to run yeah , you know he throws a jab and he runs .
MigThrows a jab and he runs . And they say , that's , you know , that's such great boxing .
Speaker 1You know what I think ? I think I .
LanoCan't he would run yeah , I would run at times , but I think goes . I Don't think he ran as much as as per now . Whitaker .
MigOh yeah for now .
LanoWhitaker ran a lot . Mayweather was more total , told him , for now Whitaker . Whitaker is where I'm more annoyed at Whitaker than I am a weather .
MigI think Mayweather beat his ass , yeah , and when he caught him , it caught up and stopped him from running the beat his ass .
LanoYeah , mayweather , when with box more you know , yeah , yeah , he ran more ideas a lot , but a lot of it was Like going back and seeing some of it like defense , the way his defense was , and then like run out then jab , whatever you know . That's just , that's just the style . But Whitaker style do that . That would frustrate the hell out of me Because I hate it . I say like the judges .
RK67They get bought out . It's like I don't know you fix it , cuz that that comp you box . Like you can have a guy like Whitaker I'm not with a girl like Mayweather will throw like a thousand punches , but they're all like you know pity Pat , like Like they're not like power , like connecting power shots , like so you gotta get this guy landed . Like you know 80% of his punches , you know like 300 shots , but they're just like pity Pats , like not damaging shots or just like he's touching connect him . So like I don't know how you fix it , but Like you say , like like Mayweather could just like be dodging the whole time and then , like you don't get someone to catch , at least you see these guys . Like Sanchez , you see them like like nailing shots , like moving around , like he had he had both . Like you know he's able to maneuver the compact and even in that video you said we're like they're like even like the camera frames missed it oh , Right yeah like I replay that thing like four times , like just to see .
LanoLike I mean , you see it like I should go back , but like that was crazy .
RK67They have to like slow mo , because it's just so compact .
LanoIt's just sweet man in there , his , his , he's get that leverage from his style was so , so nice . I mean we that , that like the 77 in the 1970 fighters , yeah , like there was some people so much good boxing going on , I mean cuz growing up . I mean we , we win this a lot of yeah . I'm a dude . Thanks , man .
MigBut getting back to like the brawler style dude Just watching Tyson .
Debating Tyson's Boxing Legacy
RK67You think , tyson ?
Mighighlights no that dude's .
RK67Rosh is well . I mean , he has power , but I don't know if he's a bro like oh .
MigI mean a brawler , I mean cuz , that's as soon as he get pissed . Forget it , dude , you're done .
LanoThat dude . I think Tyson's the greatest fighter of all time .
MigHe's . I mean I haven't watched much of Muhammad Ali's fights or anything dude , but I Since no , I mean I mean Muhammad Ali's , like everyone says he's the greatest .
LanoYeah , I mean Just Tyson , dominated man is like , and I and I know Tyson , you know he , he , he gives his respect and yeah .
MigHe says my Muhammad's the greatest , but I Mean cuz my favorite boxers , dude . Oh man , my favorite boxers , our Chavez Tyson Roy Jones Jr .
LanoYeah , roy Jones , those are my three right there , dude .
MigYeah , I could watch those dudes . Any pay-per-view ? Yeah , I would , I could watch those dudes . Yeah , and I love watching them , fight you , especially Roy Jones Jr .
RK67I think he didn't . He didn't get like Like boring , just like not punching it it was .
LanoIt was weird , because I've always hate he was a boxer . I've always hated like hot dog dudes or touch shit talking dudes , but Roy Jones Jr Was something different dude , because he was cocking the ring , but it's just , he backed it up and I don't know , I don't know what it was with Roy Jones Jr . He just he was good .
MigWas he having a ?
RK67middleweight .
MigIt was like a middleweight .
RK67Middleweight now .
MigYeah , yeah .
RK67Like I asked my wife , like even like her brothers , like I Mean they know Tyson as the actor or like celebrity , like I don't really think they understand how good Tyson was .
LanoThey should . That's where you got a command and show .
RK67I don't know if it's me being biased because , like he's , like the first heavyweight I seen , like you know , in my era .
LanoUh-huh .
RK67I mean it's just so sad like he had to do the Buster Douglas and , like you know , not prep and then yeah , but it's like that same argument where I see it all the time .
MigThat's not what ruined his career , dude , is that chicken though ? While the trial like you know , the whole time they were in his career .
LanoThe that whole thing , how people don't realize how good these guys were . It's the whole debate where these youngsters they see they see LeBron as the greatest basketball player ever piece of crap . But you go back , I mean , and you see it all over on YouTube where they say , okay , it's Steph Curry fan , or LeBron fan . They go back and once they see that mixtape of Jordan , it's like there's no comparison . Man .
LanoI don't care what , I don't care if he's got the most points ever by any player . It's like you're not . You can't be the best player when , when you've never dominated both sides of the ball .
MigAnd the only one that even comes close to Jordan , even you can , even can , even with Jordan's air dude is Kobe . Yeah , after Kobe there's no one .
LanoNo one .
MigThey can even come here .
LanoI mean , you go back . Who is it ? Who's got all those championships ? Is it will Bill ?
MigRussell . Russell got like ten champion , I think like 19 , that many .
RK67Like I thought like 11 or something that's all I could be that was like 10 .
LanoI .
RK67Think Boston has like 19 .
MigOh no , but yeah , I mean cuz . You . Go back , dude . You look at the 80s , 90s basketball . You know you , you think LeBron's gonna be able to do anything against the Rodman , you know , you know , don't you think he ?
Lanowould , he would . Well , it's tough . It's tough because if he's in that era , his mindset is gonna be different , I so . I mean , that's how you got to look at it too . No , though , if his his , his Potter Puff thinking way right now his flopping right now .
LanoThat's another thing . You can't be the greatest of all time when you got a top , top , whatever list of flops , yep , like nah , get out here . But but I bet you , if he grows up in that era era if he grows up in that era , he's his mindset is different . He's gonna be one of the top players , like all the top players that we've seen , because his mindset would be different , because that era is different . Right now it's just the league soft , so his , his mindset is going to be .
MigThat's true , because he probably would have been forced . Well , no , he would have been forced to go to school , yeah , and learn fundamentals .
LanoEven one year or whatever . I mean just coming in . You know he would have a tougher mentality . I guess you got a point In this whole over the top celebrity status . So how would I ?
RK67find all the Tyson YouTube .
LanoJust .
RK67YouTube it .
MigThey show them all like the full YouTube , mike Tyson , and see what comes up .
LanoWhen you looked at some of those , you haven't seen other videos pop up from his .
RK67No , I just saw the ones you sent , but I'm having dug down deep .
LanoI mean , just would like , well , you know , you start seeing , that's the one I watched that .
MigI already had like two or three of them pop up in my feed , yeah .
RK67Right .
LanoI got a bunch of that when I was like I practice stuff popping up .
RK67Oh yeah , my feet . Yeah , he has another appointment on Friday , so we'll get another next week . An update on his journey , another update of how'd you how'd your week feel after you ? I guess pretty good , recovering from the soreness and stuff .
MigYeah , the sort is all gone . Already it felt pretty good . Oh , the sort is gone . It's like the pain is like kind of starting to return Not bad Like it's been , but it's like I started to return . So I think a couple more sessions should do me good .
LanoWe'll see Friday . I gotta get you to do some crowd therapy .
Debate on Sports Figures and Records
RK67Where do you go in Pasadena , because I saw this one in Pasadena , colorado .
LanoMonrovia . I was watching what day , what day you want to go ?
RK67What day is good Well right now . Any day is good . Because , I'm not working right now . I go back in February .
LanoAll right , I'm going to call and I'm going to see You're going to feel . Are you going to keep the towel on ? You feel the same way .
RK67Well , I saw this video I was watching . The guy did it with the robot , but you said it was cheating . You're not doing the robot , we'll take the robot Three minutes , huh Three minutes . I got to just practice listening to some music for three minutes .
LanoPick your song that you want to .
RK67I'm going to start practicing tomorrow Opening the fridge and just standing there Three minutes , or the freezer , open the freezer Jump in the cold shower Three minutes yeah .
LanoYou're going to start jumping in the cold shower , dude ? I see this one chick on YouTube where there's little shorts , where she does an ice bath . I don't know where she lives , but she has like a tub outside in her back patio and it's all snowing outside . She breaks all the heaven and this chick gets in there , it's like oh man , she's controlling her breath pretty good . She's getting it because she's like you're going to be in the bathroom .
LanoShe gets in . I was like dude , as it is just going out . There's probably damn cold already , and then to get in this damn ice bath .
RK67So are you doing that ? You're not . You have to control your breathing . You're like focusing on that your music . I know ?
LanoYeah , I'm tired .
RK67You're in there and you started . What song do ?
Lanoyou play . I don't remember what I played .
RK67I was thinking of a music . I was trying to maybe a la cuje mama senaki o al , just fighting it for three minutes .
MigOh , and that's something about my I carry .
LanoI mean , guess something that's going to be like , or Nelly , you're tying in here , or just like pretend like I'm sweating . I'm not in here . Stay too pocket .
RK67So , going back to the Tyson Jordan , if any old timers want to , well , not challenges , but let us know who they think was it . Was it the black guy in the Clippers ? There was , like the Jordan before Jordan . Who was he ? What was his ?
Lanoname the Clippers .
RK67He was like the Clipper GM .
LanoOh it's the Elgin Baylor .
RK67Any old timer , like a boxer or sports , like you say . This guy was better or like are we being biased because this is like our generation ? Remember I was talking about ?
MigWell , I mean , dude , we can only speak for what we've seen and what we know . I mean , we can go into the history and it's like , yeah , you know , there's like in the history there's , you know , of course , muhammad Ali , you know there's George Foreman , there's Joe Frazier , you know Rocky Marchiano .
RK67Joe .
MigLewis , you know it's like .
RK67I mean . But like you go into the history books and Like I'm not a good guy , it was good , like would you say , salvador Sánchez is better than Chavez .
LanoI think he would have been .
Speaker 1I mean , I've been thinking about that .
LanoI think I'm starting to think like of what I've seen , and if he would have gone further , I think he would have been . I don't think you can say that because his career was cut short .
RK67So Carlos , if you like .
LanoIt's kind of like a Gale Sayers debate , barry .
RK67Sanders or something . Yeah , like Carlos , do you think someone ?
LanoNo , but Barry Sanders played Well , he probably would have shattered everything , but like Gale Sayers , I think he would have played like three seasons right , something like that , because his knees . Oh , really Only three .
MigYeah , because he messed up his knees and back then the technology for the surgery just wasn't there . That was it .
LanoGale Sayers , you know . So that's why they're like Water painting too . That's what they see .
MigYou know it's like was Gale Sayers better than Walter Payton ? Was Walter Payton better than Gale Sayers ? You know it's like it's kind of hard to tell , because one's career was cut short . And then who ?
Lanoknows if Bo would have just made them out of the water . But his career was cut short , like we could see that , yeah , he dominated , but you can't say he's the best of all time because his career was short .
RK67Now do you have to like just take them out of the Like , out of the contest , just because their careers are too short , like they can't match numbers ? Like just remove them .
MigNo , because ? No , I mean Because you can't just say multiply that by ten . No , because you can have them in the conversation , because the potential was there .
Speaker 1Yeah .
MigYou know , just the thing is , it remains a big . What if ?
Speaker 1Yeah .
MigThat's the only thing . There's no certainty .
RK67I mean the thing about , like Kareem , you know , he had the record for points and then LeBron broke it last year and Kareem , you know , played to his 40 . Lebron , I think he's turning 40 , or he's 40 now , I don't know yeah but , but I know he started like at a younger , like he started from high school .
MigBut that's a , that's a . You see , okay , when it comes to records like that , that's where I'm saying that the eras matter . Yeah , because Kareem did it when it wasn't easy to score .
RK67Yeah .
MigDefenses were way tougher back then .
RK67The thing in college like they outlawed the dunk because the Kareem was too easy for him . You know the dunking was banned , so that's like something crazy too when he was at UCLA and stuff .
LanoYeah , it's crazy . They outlawed that , like you know .
RK67Now the points . Like you say , like they added the three-point line , so you know people are getting more points . I mean different eras , yeah , and then LeBron's a crybaby .
MigSo you know the league bends their knee to him and whatever he wants he gets .
RK67You know all the Kareem's points were in the paint . They weren't like you know , three-pointers , so like that's more shots and all that stuff .
LanoIt's more , but it's not like LeBron was a three-point shooter either . So I mean he's still . What was his shot ? Like Mid-range , you know he was a mid-range and dunking . Yeah , dunking . So I mean there's a little bit similarity there .
MigI mean , the thing too is if he's a good free throw shooter , and he's always calling fouls on them , and they're always sending them to the line and he's doing all these shots and getting collected all these , I mean a massive point of contest .
LanoBack then there wasn't even a three-point line . Three-point line with Kareem you first started .
RK67Well , no , I mean not when he started . I don't think there was . I mean , I don't know , that's more impressive right there . Now , quickly , just before we end this baseball , just bury buns .
LanoI'm just like Hall of Famer . Before the steroids Yep .
RK67But I mean just the fact that they always walked them . That kind of pissed me off , like let this guy here , let's see what he could break or what records he could . I mean , did they start walking them that was after steroids or that was pre-steroids ?
MigAfter , Remember you'd always walk them After . You'd always walk them Pre-steroids . He wasn't putting them in the bleachers . He's still not better than the hammer .
LanoHank , yeah , not in my book .
RK67Who broke Hank Aaron's record recently ? Someone who was it ? Oh , I can't even think it wasn't in my Goyer was it ?
LanoNo , it wasn't . In Uh Poo holes .
RK67No , I don't think Poo holes is that .
LanoIt wasn't from the angels . What's it named ?
RK67Well , that's Poo holes , poo holes , no not Trout Trout though . No , trout's still young still clean . Someone wasn't it recently broken ? Was it McGuire ?
MigWell , that's not recently .
RK67I mean , well , that's old , but I thought recently it was broken . Like recently , Like last three or four years Someone whose career was to finish , I mean it had to be at the end of someone's career , Single season or career . Whatever the 758 , whatever the career home runs . Wow , those buns . Was it buns ? They broke it .
LanoHe passed .
RK67Hank Aaron . Oh okay , Hank Aaron , he was buried .
LanoBut he has asterisks next to it .
RK67No .
LanoI mean , that's a whole other debate . That doesn't count .
RK67The pitchers had asterisks . The hitters had a Loud or no . No , no , no .
LanoNope .
RK67So who was the best baseball player in your books ? Greatest baseball player or home run hitter , I mean every time , but like Babe Ruth .
LanoHome run hitter .
RK67Well , whatever baseball player , home run hitter , whatever , yeah , Home run hitter was Hank Aaron . Okay , is he your best baseball player ?
LanoNo Best baseball player .
RK67Now I don't really know much . I mean I know Hank Aaron had the record . He was a solid , like you know , hit 20 home runs every year or like played .
LanoThat's hard , because I mean or he was averaging 30 ?
RK67Like did he have big years ?
LanoBecause isn't Jackie Robinson considered the greatest ?
RK67Because , well , I think he's known for breaking the barrier , but I don't know , like career-wise or stat-wise , like who's .
LanoNo , no , but he was damn all around athlete .
RK67But I don't think he had like any like hitting records or stolen base records or like yeah because if we're going to do all around athlete you gotta put you gotta put a DL Sanders in that conversation .
MigYou gotta put Bull .
Speaker 1Jackson in that conversation , I mean .
RK67Like Shohei right now is like one of the best like they're talking about . Like you know , shohei is pretty .
MigThe players transcend their players , yeah that dude's pretty damn impressive dude To be able to get up on the mound .
RK67And then DH and Just put him in the beat dude . He's a big dude .
LanoThat's pretty , because I know people say like Ortiz is one of David Ortiz , but that's along the lines with Babe Ruth too , because he pitched Home run .
MigBut like as far as like position playing and everything . I mean for the longest time , mike Trout dude has been One of the best out there recently . A lot of these kids coming up are really damn good too , but I mean , what's the guy in the Dodgers , the Betz ?
RK67Is he up there or no ? Um , I mean , these guys are like MVP's . I'm like they're coming up there , like I'm in their Today's era . Is that one Soto guy like ?
MigNah , I think they . With San Diego , it's proven to be overrated , overrated .
Discussion on Gretzky's Hockey Career
RK67Now hockey , quickly , Gretzky .
Speaker 1Gretzky's greatest .
LanoBecause they said as hard as it could be .
RK67He would have broke the point record just on the sys .
LanoYou gotta be more deep into it . Yeah , because I don't know about hockey players .
MigThey're real hockey people and they'll bring up Bobby Orr and Mario Lemieux . Yeah , yeah , you know probably a bunch of old timers that we don't even know of .
Speaker 1I don't know .
MigI don't know enough about hockey to offend anybody out there .
LanoAll right , I just want to but Gretzky man . But Gretzky's good , Damn Gretzky .
RK67He's good . He should have retired with us .
Speaker 1I don't know what to let him go .
RK67That dude that dude . That's good . You don't get a name like the great one , like Nothing , when you start like Like , let's say like your last three or four years , you start going to three different teams . Does it diminish your career ? Because I mean he was good when he went to New York and then he started playing like all these little , like teams , like extending their career . To me it kind of diminishes . But I mean now it's free agency , it depends .
MigIf you're doing it to like , try to break records .
LanoYou know I guess , but I don't know . It depends on how you go out , like if you go out to a shitty , shitty team . I don't know .
RK67I'm just kidding . I haven't been a Dodger game since pre-COVID and I'm thinking like , do I got to go now Because the show isn't on ? Just to say like I saw one of the best .
LanoI'll tell you one thing You're going out like a sorry producer .
MigAnd you better go to the bank and get a sorry , man , you're on your game , you're going out as a sorry marathoner . One and done that's going to be an expensive thing . You know , Ellie likes to run .
RK67She runs like laps in the yard and I'm just thinking like what if she's one of those kids ? You know , the kids that you run in .
LanoAmerica . Yeah , I think you guys should .
RK67I might be the guy that runs with her , or whatever . I mean , I can't say no , but if you want to , run it , you're going to have to break the glass .
LanoBreak the glass and get the shoes . Break out the shoes . Get those on IG so people can see them .
RK67I think you're a video , peace .
